Darwinia coming to XBLA?
Our friends over at Xbox Archive got confirmation from Microsoft that they are currently talking to Introversion Software for porting Darwinia to the Xbox Live Arcade. Nothing is sure yet, but it’s certain both company’s want the game on XBLA. At the 8th annual Independent Games Festival this past March, Darwina took home three awards, including a $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game and the coveted Audience Award.

The world of Darwinia is a virtual theme park, created by computer engineer Dr. Sepulveda. The world is inhabited by virtual life-forms known as Darwinians. These little green lemming-like creatures have lived peacefully for thousands of generations, but now a deadly virus has infected the world of Darwinia. It’s up to you to eliminate all signs of infection and save the Darwinians from extinction.
“We had such limited programming resources and only a part-time freelance artist, we were forced to make a really stylized look and feel for Darwinia.” “It worked because the story puts Sepulveda having grown up around the arcade classics of the 80’s, which is why you’ll see visual inspiration drawn from Tron, Space Invaders and Centipede.”
For all our readers that can’t wait to play this game, there is a PC demo available.

this looks like a really cool game. once lotrbfme2 asdlkfajdlfkjad comes out, i’ll be eager to see how strategy games translate to controller.
Wow, centipede.. that on was awesome!.. would be nice on XBLA
they were just talking about the visual inspiration, not games coming to arcade
I know they were reffering to centipede as visual inspiration. I’ve read the article
