Hidden cache cleaner in spring dashboard update

Something else that’s useful has finally come to us as a surprise in our lovely spring dashboard update. GamersReports reported earlier today that in our long awaited update there was a hidden feature to clear out your cache if you hit a few buttons. Find out how after the jump.

Go to the system blade and then memory. Press Y on either the HDD or a MU and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a blade will pop up saying: This will perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices. Do you want to continue? Pick yes or no.

While it does clean your cache out, it also deletes game software updates as well, such as a certain game update that was put out that killed item cloning and Dorian goldmining. Use the anti-update wisely. Delete the Oblivion patch (for example) if you feel the need to shower yourself in gold or expensive items.

Also note that Xboxic cannot be held responsible for anything that might happen should you decide to do this with your console. There’s a reason it was hidden away from the public, although it seems like it’s pretty harmless.

(Thanks SW 1540 for sending this in)

Never has the word gold come with the implication of a porcelain jackson and a gold plated monkey, good deal gamer Chris.

Wow, a female who likes gold monkeys. Xboxic is in luck.

What the heck, x, r bumper, y, z, blah, blah… how does one find these things in the first place?

Hackers usually disassemble updates within a day of release :)

what about after a complain of the gold glitch when you call the support center?

It works well, just be aware any game update will have to downloaded again after cleaning.

It’s a lot easier, just hold the A button while starting up, when you see the loadscreen of the game, only the cache has been cleared. So not all your software updates!

I think that’s just a cache dusting. This is a cache wipe.

I don’t care, as long as it’s clean ;)

Does this delete downloadable content too, or just game patches?

Good question actually. Go try it and tell us :P

(don’t worry, paid-for content is stored so you can always redownload for free if it does)

I agree with the assessment that there is a reason why it is hidden from us. Not ready for prime time. IMO using the cheats in oblivion ruin the game, I prefer to slug through it the hard way. But, to each their own.

Is this likely to speed oblivion loading times up,i have put in over 110 hours on this game and has been fine but this week i finished the Fighters Guild and scince has now gone rediculasly slow, I have DLC on there and updates i dont really want to lose but would just like to make the loading times more bearable - any ideas would be welcome or would this work??

You can still shower yourself in gold with the patched version of oblivion… Just use the dupe item hack, and go sell a couple of magic helmets at your local store…

Chris! Where are you getting all these women from?

I get ‘em from your mom’s closet. NOW SHUT UP. :+
