Call of Duty 3 details
MasiveUNCfan on the Xbox.com forums has taken the painstaking liberty of re-typing an article in the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly about Call of Duty 3, and its improvements over its Xbox 360 launch predecessor. And improvements they are.
Leaps over COD2:
In game system has been rebuilt
Characters move more realistically.
more textures and shaders in the environment
No more boarded up windows so now you can see the turn up landscape all around you.
foliage remains flattened when you walk over (you can track people now, until it is real[ly] destroyed)
Grenades leave real scorched earth.
Surfaces react to bullets like they should, grass is different from steel, steel is different from wood, and wood is different from water.
More than 24 characters on screen at one time.
Destructable cover
Global winds affect smoke grenades.
Now, when a tabk [tank] moves through smoke grenades the somke [smoke] will curl around it.
Bullets through smoke with stream out the other side moving the smoke.
Trees and grass will move with the windThings change:
You actually have to go through the actions of planting a bomb instead of holding A.
You have to row a boat while still trying to shoot you way to freedom.
Hand to hand combat compared to the way Condemed works.
CoD3 campaign takes place during the real campaign called Normandy Breakout. This is after D-day when the troops are moving inland to move the Germans back and liberate Paris.Load times are bring erased between levels.
Play as Americans, British, Polish Resistance, and the Canadian army
Example: When you are fighting with the British you will fight along side the French resistance.Multiplayer

New Multiplayer mode called War.
Axis and Allied teams battling for strategic locations.
And of course vehicles.
The post says that cod3.1up.com will launch on July 4th of this year and will contain exclusive screens and in-game video. Keep in mind that until we see scans these are unsubstantiated rumors. (But good ones.) The game will be out in Fall 2006 for all next-gen consoles.
(Thanks, YLA G for submitting)

Sounds good, and no doubt will be a great game. Cant wait to own Doug in CoD3, or was it the other wat around?
Other way around.
looks pretty good, really like the addition of vehicles…now just add coop missions like graw
Can’t wait!!
Co-Op over LIVE would be the best!
i never really liked the other COD games but this one looks good enough to pick up.
ahh… finally splitscreen multiplayer. that’s all you’d have to say to get me to pick it up.
I will enjoy pwning the Nazi n00bs with these new features.
This all sounds well and good but I want these guys to fix their online collision detection. I’ve seen more BS kills in COD2…
they’d better not change the controls, that would be the biggest mistake.
According to wii60.com, the Wii version is looking on par with the 360 version.
I appreciate you giving my props for my post. I did not include the Wii information since it is an Xbox ordeal. The Wii is going to have a seperate aiming feature allowing for the cross hair to actually move around the screen instead of being locked in the center like it is on the 360 and PS3. So far their are no visual differences between the 360 and PS3. They did not comment on the wii, but they did show two Wii screen shots. It looks good to me.
I wasn’t actually talking to anyone in general, but you make a fair point.
Stating about the online issues. They state that the online portion has been rebuilt from the ground up. Treyarch is the offical creator of this game. They created CoD2: Big Red One. Infinity Ward has nothing to do with the project. Infinity Ward is supposedly creating the futureristic CoD that takes place in todays time. Not sure if that is true.
well, i can tell you that i, along with a lot of other users, are having at least as hard a time getting into games as we did on cod2. of course, we have been promised a fix by today (sunday 11-12), but given I.W.’s track record, i think we can all plan on waiting. according to the info i have read, when their servers become full, people are unable to join games, only create them. this creates hundreds of lobbies with only 1 person in them. i am going to try really hard not to get as pissed as i was over cod2. cod3 is a great game, but the single player freezes on me about once an hour, and it is nearly impossible to get in an online match.

According to wii60.com, TRIGGER, Samus is also going to be bouncing around in a tight black bikini. Unfortunately wii60.com is major fanboy central and can not always be trusted
I’m not going to bother with the Wii version for this since I’m looking forward to mass explosions and l33t physixTM that only the 360/PS3 can do.
Here’s to hoping Treyarch does a better job, and thanks for typing all this up for us!
I just read over the actually EGM article and all the information posted is accurate. The war mode is the axis vs allies battling for strategic positions. It also talks about multi man vehicles. One drives the others use the vehicles weapons or their hand weapons. As for the wii version it is hard to tell the graphic quality. They don’t show a close up of the wii’s game graphics. It doesn’t look bad from the screens they have, but you can’t compare it to the PS3 or XBOX360 versions due to lack of clear pictures.
Aside from that the game looks amazing. They seem to be headed in the right direction.
i thought this game wasnt being developed for the PC, at least last reported. cant wait for the game still, even if half of this is true then were all in for a treat.
That is correct. This guy is not being released on PC. It is stated straight in the magazine that Treyarch is skipping the PC all together.
Yeah, we just got e-mailed by an IW guy telling us it was missing the PC. Sounds odd to me, that a series that began on the PC would end up a console-exclusive.
24 online…sounds good to me.
i want 64
or 100 like an MMO. When you start as a medic.. your medic till the and,.. medals etc.. and you have your own army
Is this a simultanious release on PS3? LMFAO if not, because 360 got COD2 at launch, then COD3 before PS3 is even out! PS3 will probably be delayed again, anyway….
Wikipedia lists COD3 as a Wii launch title (but IGN doesn’t), and recent rumors say that we’ll see the Wii weeks before. So who knows?
infinity ward’s absence will make this game poop
no the game will actually be good now that infintity ward have nothing to do with it…
COD2 online play says it all!!!
i talked to a guy from infinity ward on my buddy list and he said he got to play a beta-type level and it was looking pretty cool. great smoke especially.
love it!
i need a 63 inch tv, i have a 27 and went to my co-workers house who had a 63 hdtv with surround sound, and cod2 was never the same again on my lil pos 27 incher, using my stereo as my “surround sound”. looks like i’ll be making a hell of a lot more visits to the ol 63 when we get the cod3. just another pointless post so let me finish it with; yeah i hope the online collision detection is fixed cuz on some of my clan matches i got shot after i shot him and when i looked at his killcam, i was nowhere near where he was shooting but i died. and i hope that this doesnt lag as much as cod2 did on its first coming out.
question? doesnt perfect dark zero have a better way of handling its online crap, no lag, when u get hit U get hit, when u hit someone it hits That person, do delays, no bs kills?
this game is mad fun and it look mad real this game is the shit i got it right when it came out and its the shit if u dont have this game well u suck so get it pCe
