System Link is getting more popular

DX Gaming weblog wrote an article about System Link games. After a small investigation and some calculating they’ve found out that System Link games are more popular on the Xbox 360 than on the Xbox. A whopping 11 out of 41 games are supporting this feature, that’s 26%.

Why settle for 4-way split screen when instead you can hook up four consoles and give each player a screen of their own? Even better, hook up multiple people to each system and suddenly you can get 16+ player matches which often times are more then allowable over Xbox Live.

The games currently supporting the System Link feature:

  • 2006 FIFA World Cup
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Far Cry Instincts: Predator
  • Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
  • Kameo
  • MotoGP ‘06
  • Perfect Dark
  • Project Gotham Racing 3
  • Quake 4
  • The Outfit
  • Top Spin 2
Enough consoles to build a nice little network

They intend to keep their list up to date so check back every once in a while. Cheap Xbox-Live system link is.
Though saying that, it is more fun beating your friends in the same room as you opposed to some digital identity online.

Yeah you’re right but I usually compromise between these 2 options. Playing on Xbox Live with friends.

Yeah, and with the “vision” camera, the compromise will be even better.

Here goes to hoping the video quality will be good on the Xbox Live Vision camera.

And it can be interesting using it on XBConnect if you don’t want to take and pay xbox live gold

I didn’t know it worked with the Xbox 360 as well. I’ve tried it once or twice with my old Xbox but it’s not as easy as using Xbox Live, so I’ll stick to that. For a lousy 5 bucks a month it’s not worth all the hassle.

I think it’s not much of an effort to get it running properly but hey Live is always the easiest option. Well lousy 5 bucks in a month, means 60 bucks in a year and that’s a game again, or maybe two in discount like Kameo and Condemned.

I wouldn’t say that I would be saving money like this when I would want to buy a game but some kids without much money it could be an option.

Haven’t tried XBConnect with my 360 yet though maybe I’ll give it a try then

Yeah System Link games rule!
I hooked up my old xbox to my 360, got myself an extra copy of Halo 2 and now it’s ownage, friend sitting on the balcony playing on my 21″ tv, i’m sitting in the room on my 22″ VGA Monitor where we can’t see eachothers screen but we can shout at each other. Thats just the best, much better as live! (offcourse you need IRL friends for this :P)

XLINK Kai is better than XBOX Connect by far. It has a decent interface, and I’ve had much more success with the connection quality than I have with XBC… That being said, I prefer Xbox live because of the great functionality, and now the Achievement system and Live Arcade. The only reason I ever really used a tunneling service is because I was playing ripped games on a modded xbox and didn’t want to get banned from XBL

Heh, CoD2 system link? I wouldn’t call it that. What they call system link is actually not playable with a lot of friends. They don’t use split screen with this, only player 1 can join system link games. So with 2 xbox 360’s you have 2 players, unlike 8 if it would be 4 player split screen on the console (normal in games like ie. halo)

Funny fact: On the box it says: “16 player system link”, so that means you need 16 xbox 360’s and 16 tv’s to do this… (oh yeah and nuclear power reactor, friends and blabla much more)

“Funny fact: On the box it says: “16 player system link”

Yeah, but they’re not lying, you can have 16 player sys. link.

I was very disappointed by the COD2 situation as well. This weekend a group of my friends and I will be getting together to play on 3 tvs, 1 42″ plasma widescreen, a projector, and another tv. We’ll have to settle for Halo or Halo 2, although we would much rather play COD2. COD3 better remidy this.

I’m the only one of my friends with a 360 so that doesn’t really work for me ;)
