Saint’s Row demo August 1st

Go ahead and laugh at the futility of even trying to give dates to these things. Done? The Saint’s Row website informs us that we’ll be seeing the demo for THQ’s open-world gang game on August 1st, before the game releases on the 29th.

Single Player demo available beginning of August! Gamers will be able to get their hands on a single player demo from Saint’s Row at the beginning of August. The demo is slated to release through Xbox Marketplace on August 1st and it will also be available on the Official Xbox Magazine cover DVD. CHECK IT OUT!

Proof, yo!

The game is going to be a free-roaming gang-warfare bit along the lines of the Grand Theft Auto series. You’re a member of the Third Street Saints, and your job is to take back your city from the rival gangs (three of ‘em) that hold the city.

(Thanks to Ape Bape Stas and Predator GR for sending this one in.)

Some of those gambling sites let you gamble on things like who will win Amerian Idol. Maybe they should start betting on when things will actually release on Xbox 360.

lol

Odds would be too small to do any realistic betting :P

i really hope this demo hits that day. its got a good chance actually. that is a tuesday. seeing as this is a xbox exclusive at the moment at least i think it stands a good chance of getting passed by t&a on time. i hope its more than san andreas with online play.

They really shouldn’t even give demo dates anymore, just the month because the demo almost always misses that release date.

Maybe not even the month. Capcom has a week left to not lie to us…again.

its not coming dude. for some reason a little 16 bit game is impossible to add network code to, or so they claim. i dont think so. really, unless they got like 2 guys working on it i cant be taking this long, there are plenty of online street fighters.

Well, that Gamevideos preview had June 28 listed. I didn’t believe it earlier this month when I saw it, but now that’s what I’m hoping for.

Pulling out is more reliable than a release date for anything on the 360.

I want that demo right now! :-)

I suggest that Voliation and THQ send the finished demo into the marketplace team at least a week before this date

I wish Microsoft would inform us how long an average Arcade Title/Marketplace item takes to get through testing. That’ll be really fucked up if in the middle of August, we’re still waiting for this demo. And for the whole ‘Not releasing on Friday’ thing, I think that’s retarded. Their reasoning behind it makes sense, I know. But when does everyone have the most free time to spend downloading 700MB demos? The WEEKENDS. Yeah, Bob the manager. You might just have to make your employees come in during the weekend. Boo-Hoo. Every other fucking business does it.

Pretty much 100% exactly what I think.

ditto, microsoft is going to have to shape up or they might have to ship out if nintendo, and possibly sony but i doubt that, brings out the wii with tons of online downloadable games and demos that automatically download while ur sleeping in wiiconnect 24/7 mode.

why don’t ms release content on fridays??? if they release it in the morning, and they get reports in that the content is messed up they could easily just pull it. The most the demo will do is freeze your console which could b fixed by the old “turn off and then back on again” method.

From xbox360fanboy:

…The demo will also be on the Official Xbox Magazine cover DVD.

That fact might lock in the demo for August. I’m not sure if it’s already Microsoft tested when they put demos on discs out, I guess they’d have to be. Unless ‘testing’ is download tests, or something to do with xbox live bandwidth. I just assumed testing was so that xbox 360s wouldn’t crash while running the software, but if they already have the go ahead on an OXM demo disc, why not in downloadable form? We’ll see.

Yes, but August *First*? Just like Street Fighter was coming out in early June…

dont be surprised to see the game in the mag before the marketplace. its very likely they will do that in an attempt to boost mag sells. but i doubt the mag will release on the 1st, and if they release it in the august mag that would get the dmeo out in july. probably itll show up late in august in the september mag. which could mean it has passed testing, especially if the mag is going to have it. they print that stuff a couple months ahead of time.

They couldn’t have got the Saints Row demo out a few months ago, because even at E3, it had shitty framerate problems. Plus, people were swimming in the street.

yep, everyone said that the game was horrible at e3 but technically and gameplaywise. i think perhaps its going to be to ambitious for the developer. volition isnt exactly rockstar imo. anyways, the only demo so far that has been techinically good was the lost planet demo. id swear is was playing a finished game there. and its probably 8 months until it releases. i wouldnt be one bit surprised if its the same demo that was out in e3. they just decided when the right time to release it to the public is, which is august, somehow.
