Take a look inside the Gears of War kitchen
On10 posted a neat little video showing one of the Gears of War level designers doing his ‘thang’. Pretty interesting stuff with the Unreal 3 editor in full effect. The video comes with heavily annoying fangirl comments by Tina Wood and is available as a stream or as a download for your iPod, PSP and PC (WMV, 89.2MB).
I pack my things and head to North Carolina and Epic Games, home of the unreal series, the unreal engine, and gears of war. As a gaming enthusiast and completel fan girl I wanted to find out how a level designer actually creates an interactive video game. And we do this with Gears of War. I hope you learn something, I did!

Having annoying, clueless girls pretending to be into this stuff do these is so sad… really, what idiot teenager buys this? Its pathetic.
It really is annoying. The PMS clan coverage on E3 that was on the Marketplace made my skin crawl as well. When they were interviewing some guy from FASA they literally said ‘…you´re like my favorite developer…’. Oh and then there’s Morgan Webb, another prime example why gaming press + girl involved = a bad idea, generally.
Agree and disagree. I love girls that play games, especially ones that know what they’re talking about. (I’ll find one eventually…) A knowledgable girl gamer + gaming press = best concept ever.

morgan webb is the only one i can think of, and that julie chick that is on electric playground and a couple g4 shows is ok. that lady that host cheats on g4 is like a freakin cheerleader, like great too look at, but u dont wanna hear her talk much lol.
They used to be on G4, and they used to talk about video games all the time. With another guy host, i forget his name. I believe them.
When you said G4 the only phrase I can hear after that is “sucks”.
Before the trendy g4 bashing because they took over tech tv, i know the story already. I’m talking about before the two channels collided, these two girls had a show of their own on the video game side of it. If no one has seen it, you can’t really judge these girls yet.
g4 is nothing but star trek shit now. aots is decent sometimes and judgement day was the best, but of course thats gone. screw g4.
i like g4, i agree with almost all of xplays reviews. and they had really good e3 stuff this year, even giving microsoft some props, after 5 years lol. but u gotta admit, alot of the exclusive stuff on the xbox 1 is crap, same so far with the 360. i give them props for admitting it though they can be harsh. attack of the show just plain kicks ass, imo lol.
No, a lot of the exclusive stuff on the xbox is top class. Halo1+2, PGR1+2, Forza, Ninja Gaiden, MotoGP1+2 (didn’t really care for 3), Dead or Alive, Top Spin, Rallysport Challange 1+2
Top games IMO
Xbox had a lot of great exclusives and X-Play is only slightly enjoyable if you turn the sound down. Their sense of humor is so fscking lame and annoying.

Who cares? I liked this interview, some parts in this game had a very dense mesh, impressive work Epic, I bet GOW is pushing alot of polygons. I also loved the Unreal editor part where he put bricks in the ground. Imo this was a good video, lots of nice information.

Yep we saw more then we did see in the trailer on Marketplace almost. So all this is like great stuff for me untill the end of this year when we can buy it for real!
TRIGGER M4N i m having issues with streaming with firefox and media player,i think it’s zone alarm suite that blocks them.
Anyway,the level creation seemed like a “toy” in the hand of the current developer,the intresting (beside the level creation) was that they can play and test directly the map through the Unreal Engine in multiplayer mode inside the studio network…
i think imma play the vijay singh card here. girls shouldnt play shooters. i know for a fact women are much better at puzzle games, some rpgs, and platformers. my wife has beaten like 4 final fantasys, but she cant even control halo or counterstrike. i just think that a lady getting into a game like gears of war is disturbing, unless she is anarmy chick, then by god let her at it lol. no offense to any ladies, its just my opinion from experience.
Men and Women are wired differently. Men have a plus on coordination, women have a plus in puzzle solving. I think that’s all it is.
good video. which it was more in depth though, but somethning is better than nothing.
