Call of Duty 2 map pack released

More and more content is being thrown onto the marketplace today. This time it’s the Call of Duty 2: Invasion map pack. This is the third map pack that’s being released for this game. The first pack was free, the second one costs 400 points and now this latest one will set you back 800 MS points and is 337.40MB in size.

The Invasion map pack is available for all regions except Germany, Switzerland and Austria because it’s not authorized over there. It contains 5 new maps, three French towns, an Egyptian desert stronghold and a Russion harbor. According to the description: abandoned vehicles and other defensive cover make for an intense combat experience.

Thanks to Bladeoner for reporting this.

Every time I play COD2 I have to download the maps again, does anyone else have this problem?

It must just be a coincidence that the Prey demo is still unreleased. They are screwing us so they can sell all this content. This is BS.

no this was announced months ago. has nothing to do with prey. its funny though since this is something u pay for its out on time. as far as prey goes, someone in microsoft messed something up big time. 3drealms hasnt been contacted to fix anything. so its microsoft. and its bound to be really bad, cause they arent acknowledging even having the thing.

They are delaying the release of the Prey demo so they don’t stifle sales of content. You realy think someone messed up at MS? Haha. The game is already gold. They aren’t saying anything about the demo because they are sitting on it until they feel that we should be able to play it. Which is precisely whenever is best for them. Seriously, this is not the way I envisioned the marketplace. Whatever happened to the whole “open” idea and user uploaded mods and stuff. We have no control over the MP and we are being taken advantage of by MS to generate a little more sales. /sigh

I think you’re slightly extremely paranoid. MS is looking like ass with the Prey demo delay, and you honestly think they planned that? Looking like ass in public costs them more money in lost sales than a few CoD2 maps can ever compensate.

Have some perspective.

Uhm… I don’t think MS is very concerned about how the blog-community thinks about them regarding the Prey demo. The majority of the Xbox owners probably won’t know about this Prey-demo-delay…

So yes, I think holding the multiplayer demo (free) back until the planned map-packs (paid) are released isn’t such a strange thought…

I am very sure they do care. I know my post on the Prey demo got forwarded to the marketing team with footnote “read this, we look like ass out there”.

Don’t forget the power of the hardcore users. We, the guys in the know, are the people giving advise to those not in the know, the silent majority. “We” are one of the most effective advertising mechanisms they have. As long as we’re on their side, otherwise we’re the worst.

Actually, these Call of Duty 2 maps are early. They were supposed to come out mid-July.

You don’t think they are sitting on content to maximize sales? Sounds like you need some perspective sir. They obviously didn’t plan this. The only reason they are getting negative PR is because HH gave a release date without MS approval. Otherwise we wouldn’t have known. They won’t release a new FPS demo at the same time an existing FPS releases content because it would hurt sales. Period. Its not a conspiracy, its business. The “looking like ass in public” argument was quite compelling however. Nobody wants that!

they didnt have them hold back the pc version demo. it runs and windows, and like oblivion and call of duty 2 microsoft is would try to have the pc and 360 taken care of at the same time to avoid angry customers. it doesnt benefit microsoft one bit to piss off 3drealms, hammerhead, and 2k by not taking care of the 360 side. sure 2k and 3drealms is offering the demo for dl on the pc, but if microsoft didnt intend to get that stuff on the 360 at the same time they would have done like they have in oblivion and cod 2. everything gets patched at the same time, content comes out at the same time, and its basically like having one huge platform. there is something wrong technically, not with the demo and i doubt microsoft would want the bad pr after doing so well with oblivion and cod 2.

newmodel: Please do understand that there’s only thing worse than “not selling a product” to a company. That’s “losing a customer”. Think about it.

on a brighter note did u guys experience super fast downloads for these maps? i think i downloaded it in under 15 minutes. its almost 400 megs. it could also mean not alot of people are buying them. i know it took longer to find a match with only the new maps.

It did download very quick, yes. And I think the maps are top notch, really worth the money. No shit ones this time unlike the first four *shakes head dissaprovingly at Vossenack* Everyone get the maps, very enjoyable!

It’s problem is everyone takes a sniper, so as soon as you spawn, some prick picks you off right from the other end. It really pisses me off. If everyone used a real rifle it might be different, but it ain’t, so boooo to Vossenack!
