Support Katrina victims with your headset

Wrecked houses after Katrina passedNo, not by shouting kind words at Xbox Live opponents from Louisiana instead of the usual trash talk, but by buying the Plantronics Gamecom Halo 2 edition headset from their website. The headsets are at discount prices, and for every unit sold $1 goes to Plantronics GameCom United Way Katrina Recovery Fund.

As the Xbox.com announcement tells us:

Well the good people are Plantronics have got a great deal on these babies. You ready for this? They’re usually 50 bucks, but for a limited time they will only set you back $14.95 U.S. Not only that, a buck of that price goes to Plantronics GameCom United Way Katrina Recovery Fund.

Great move, great discount, especially if you’re one of the 500 Xboxic readers that had his headset cord eaten by cats (if I’m to believe everything I read in our comments section). You can buy the headsets from the Plantronics webshop, with the headset itself setting you back $14.95 instead of $49.95, and $19.95 instead of $59.95 if you also need an Xbox Communicator for your trusty Xbox 1 brick.

It works fine (even on a wireless controler”. However, there is no volume control since on XBOX it was located on the puck. There are of course headset mods available on the web that will help correct that little setback. :D

I rather give all my money to the red cross then.
Then to give bungie some money…
ANd then bungie get the credit for it.

well, it’s for a good cause right? but only 1 dollar is going to the good cause… the other 14 is for an overpriced headset with no volume control, and no mute (inline)…

I say, make a donation yourself, and pick up a m500 headset for 19.99 online, which has the inline mute and volume, and is a better headset from plantronics that will work just fine with your 360 control pad..

This is just a way to gain press and offload the excess stock of a “single purpose” headset imo.

Nice idea… shae its almost a year AFTER the event…..

Sounds like a good cause, but being from Louisiana, what about the Rita victims, there were entire communties wiped out just south of where I live, but because it was a rural area it doesnt get the publicity of New Orleans. And dont even get me started on how the red cross came in and said we going to give to every household affected and then backtracked and changed all the rules in the middle of it, hmmm reminds me of FEMA. I cant complain too much though, red cross did bring ice, water, and food (hats off to them for that). Weird though how millionaires received fema money with no damage to their household and some I know who live on the poor side of town still have blue roofs and received nothing. Anyways around here, people get up and help themselves, always have always will. Anyways enough of my rant, but thats great that people are wanting to help. Good to know there are still good people in this country and every little bit helps. Glad Katrina victims are getting the much needed help.
