Prey demo gets new date
3D Realms had no idea what was going on with the Prey demo, but OXM seems to have some information for us though. According to them Microsoft is releasing the demo July 2nd.
Huh, but that’s a Sunday? Yes it is, but apparently Microsoft wants to release this one as quickly as possible. But it’s still a little bit of a rumor since we haven’t seen an official statement from Microsoft nor Major Nelson. Let’s just hope this time it’s for real and it’s not getting postponed any further.
Balls, beers and 30 degree climate; that was the forecast this weekend even before Microsoft dropped the announcement that the rescheduled Prey demo was arriving on Xbox Live Marketplace this Sunday, 2nd July.
The demo, which was supposed to available for download nearly a fortnight ago, was delayed due to being still “in testing” at Microsoft, according to 3DR President George Broussard. But he believed the delay “could be as long as a few days.”
The game has gone gold a couple of days ago and is supposed to be hitting the shelves July 14th.

Amazing, but you said that Major hasn’t said anything, just to clear confusion, he only posts things on his blog when they are ON MarketPlace, he never seems to comment on Microsofts favourite “Rumours or speculation.”
Also, sorry about the rant about nothing, but OXM said the demo of Chromehounds was to be released at E3, look at how wrong they were, I’m taking this one with the sea’s worth of salt, but it’s not impossible to be released on Sunday, just improbable. If it’s true, nice to see MS taking our very nasty comments to Major seriously.

Well i got da chromehounds demo but i gotta play prey to know which one im gonna buy.
i would go for prey - played the demo on pc for it and it rocks…just waiting for demo to come on 360 so I can try out the multiplayer as I don’t like playing pc multiplayer

“Let me say this: When was the last time we released content on a Sunday? ”
Swiftly followed by:
“Also, I have not see any announcement that a MS official has made about the demo coming out on Sunday. Trust me…I asked *everyone* in PR. No one at Microsoft has ever given a date for this demo to be released.”
it is to bad that we dont get the demo, but as long as the full game is coming the 14 i really dont care much…
i would agree with dsk uk the pc demo is great over chromehounds demo which made my choice to buy prey when it comes out

Sorry, but I wish Major would be just as clear about giving any dates as he is about denying rumors.
This guy cant tell us anything about a demo that has been given to MS over a week ago…but he can definitely deny rumors.
There’s a difference between what he (or anyone else at MS) “knows” and what they are allowed to discuss. It’s called a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) and it carries some pretty heavy penalties for violating it. It’s not his fault he is constantly having to defend, deny and placate all of these wild rumors and speculations. I really don’t know why all of these people are givin’ him a hard time.

Why doesnt he just ask *someone* about the real release date, if he can ask *everybody* about the rumor date??
He is paid to write a blog, about the obvious as far as I’m concerned. He never seems to know anything that anyone else hasn’t already written about.

Jmel is absolutely wrong about Major getting paid to do his blog. I really appreciates what he does and I kinda wish he would take a few weeks off to let people know that he doesn’t have to do this. Maybe that would weed out the trolls who exist only to complain about something he does as a hobby not a job. I would miss the information but reading all the trolling on his blog reminds me how “entitled” many selfish people can be.
its coming july 2nd because its the 4th of july next week and they probably dont plan on doing anything on the marketplace. they probably wanna get something out before they get their long weekend, i suppose. i wonder if sf2 will really come out today?

There is a lot of anxiety going around the prey forums now; George (3d realms staff) said: “UPDATE: We heard something … something you will like … something very good. An official statement is coming very soon, so stand by and get ready.”
What with Major denying it all, OXM saying this, and George saying that, it’s all getting messy.
The only demos that come out on time are the ones that don’t have announced dates
