id Software focuses on the Xbox 360

“The Xbox 360 will probably will be id’s primary development platform,” says John Carmack, id’s co-founder, in an interview with the PC Gamer UK magazine, according to Next Generation. “It’s a really sweet development system,” he continues. We hope that this commitment pays off and id Software releases something better than a Quake 4 port in the future. The magazine hits stores February 7th.

I see a trend here. More great developers siding with the first out “easier to develop on” next gen system…

Great trend is you ask me ;)

Let’s hope they start making some more original games. Doom 3 and Quake 4 feel like graphically updated version of their ancestors to me. That’s not to say they aren’t fun; it’s just that I prefer something a bit different in new titles (a brand new story/setting/universe is always good too).

Guess I’m spoiled as far as FPS games go. If the 360 didn’t have COD 2, I probably would’ve thought Quake 4 was an amazing game.
