Xbox 360 Pro Evo to be showcased next month
Is your team out of the World Cup? Well if they are, you will probably need something new to cheer about until the regular season starts. Well I’ve got a feeling this might just do the trick; Konami have today announced that the Xbox 360 version of the highly anticipated football sim Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will be making its public debut on the 23rd of August at the upcoming and ever-so imaginatively titled “Game Convention”, held in Leipzig.
According to the press release, series creator and all-round legend Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka (God bless that fish!) will be attending the event to rub shoulders with guests and show off his teams first effort with the 360 first hand. Will the game look as good as the two screens (above) released by Konami during E3? Well it looks like we’ve only got just over a month wait to find out….
Pro Evolution Soccer has always been widely regarded as the most realistic and playable football game available on the market, and now promises even better control, more official licenses and some nifty new features. One thing is certain; There will be a boatload of gamers looking at this with great interest. The press release also states that we can expect the latest addition to the Pro Evo family around Autumn time, also appearing on PS2, PSP, PC, and appearing for the first time on the Nintendo DS.
Curiously there is no mention of an incarnation for the original Xbox, and it seems that was the case all along glancing back at the initial E3 announcement. Despite technically being old news, this will probably still come as a shock to much of the Pro Evo community as it seems to have slipped under the radar somewhat.
Although PES6 will be Konami’s most anticipated title at the convention, Konami will also be showcasing a few more of their next-gen efforts, with the exact titles yet to be disclosed. Watch this space.

The thing that gets me, although it was expected, is that it’s not exactly going to be a next-gen game, because the engine will need to be capable of running on the PS2’s hardware too.
That said, I hope they leave Saviola’s face untouched in the player editor, because it’s ME. Seriously. It used to scare my ex girlfriend because it looked so much like me.
I read somewhere (I’m sure it was here actually) that it was being completely re-designed with the 360 in mind, with added animations that won’t feature on the other versions. Therefore, it will be more “next-gen” than you think.
Oh, I’ve no doubt the graphics will be tarted up to the eyeballs for the 360 version, but the actual gameplay mechanics will still be PS2-era, unless they have a completely different version for the 360 - which would be nice!
I hope they take advantage of the upcoming camera and allow you to put your own face in the game, etc, too!
Oh, and for things like kit editing, allow you to use your own pics from your networked pc for, say, the sponsors and badges of edited teams.
That’s just groping with blind hope, mind - massively unlikely.
Stranger things have happened - you could totally overhaul PES4/PES5 on the Xbox with just the simple use of a MaxDrive (although I don’t think such a device exists yet for the 360, does it?)
Will be interesting to see what the in-game graphics are like, because those pics at the top are obviously from cutscenes. Mind you, the facials in those screenshots are just awful…
agree with u about the the facials - they look terrible
Its not usually Konami’s style to release screens of the intro’s, and those pics really don’t sit with their previous intro’s.
Its definitely gonna be interesting to see how close it is…
Just (over) analysing those pics (again!), I’m slightly more convinced its in-engine, on the second pic, check A)The Crowd, they usually have fully animated crowds on the intros, and B)The depressed looking Inter player in the background, the way he’s walking looks very much like the PES animation when a player is walking off.
I could be wrong, but its a few more points to note in the argeument!
Training camp starts in 2 weeks..oh wait, you guys are talking about soccer….
I heard a while ago there would be the facility to have 11 v 11 online but not heard anymore about it. balls.
11 v 11, do u mean actually gamers or the normal allowed team lineup lol
No 11 v 11 different online players you cunny funt.
Bagsy no the keeper!
Not sure whether they are in game or not, but I think this Leipzig show could satisfy a few people. Either that or we’ll all be very very disappointed. I think rather than the looks of the game, the most important aspect of it is its live coding. Get this right, and pretty or not, PES will be the footballs fans online game of choice.
Seabass said thats what he would LIKE to take the game to {11v11}
Dont think Internet at the mo is fast enough to have 11v11 and have it fun for all, with minimal lag.
just look at ES 5 already lags with 1v1
Ah, I miss read then, pity, would have been nice. They could at least let you go on the one box with four players on the same team though surely. Thats just two boxes linked over the net.
ps2 v xbox 360 players online now that be worth it, i know it will never happen
I think their keeping us apart, people will stop playing after playing us xbox chaps.
Nah, i’m only anti-social when it comes to the french on PGR3, apart from that i’m quite a nice laid back guy.
I meant talent wise. He he
I reckon those are in-game screens because surely the intro will be tarted up? Those screens don’t look ‘polished’ enough to be from the intro…
note to square, can we have japanese football content for ff XI so we cream the ps2 online lol
