Lost Planet’s multiplayer to premiere in Leipzig

It turns out that its not just Konami with big things to show off at the upcoming ‘Games Convention’ in Leipzig… Capcom have revealed that they will also be having somewhat of a premiere themselves, by presenting a hands-on glimpse of what we can expect from the multiplayer modes of their mucho-anticipated 360 exclusive Lost Planet.

According to today’s press release, lucky attendees of Capcoms dedicated Lost Planet stand will be able to get involved in 4 v 4 team battles over one of the many maps that will be included in the final release.

Due ‘Early 2007′, big things are expected from Lost Planet, especially following the release of the excellent singleplayer demo on the Marketplace during this years E3. With the demo leaving most gamers (and me!) watering at the mouth, if the online side of things can live up to expectations, then Lost Planet could provide a special all-round experience.

Hiroshi Tobisawa, President of Capcom Europe, commented: “Over 400,000 Xbox 360 owners have already downloaded the single player demo from Marketplace showing that Lost Planet is already a highly anticipated title. The multiplayer mode shows Capcom’s commitment to take full advantage of the Xbox Live service and deliver an absorbing multiplayer experience to its three million subscribers.”

Suffice to say this is one story to keep an eye on, and you can assume this reporter will be watching those lucky few with envious eyes…

i heard they’re aiming for 32 players

What Capcom should’ve done is took multiplayer out of this game, and placed it into Dead Rising.

Out of interest, just how would you see a multiplayer mode work in Dead Rising?

Coop cleaning the mall!
Who can kill the most zombies in 15 minutes!
Coop, one violent, other one photographing him!

I agree with you. I can play deathmatch in any other shooter, but what I really want to do is slash and smash zombies with friends and/or strangers.

I just don’t see it working to be honest. For me, a game like Lost Planet needs MP, a game like Dead Rising doesn’t…
