Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays announced
First things first: we have a release date for Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting!!! Alright, now that’s off my chest, Gamasutra has received confirmation from Microsoft that they will be having a bunch of Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays in the upcoming weeks, releasing one new piece of content every week.
As Ami Blaire, Global Marketing Director for Xbox Live, puts it:
“There’s no better way to revisit the 80s than to throw a retro-themed Gold Experience party - complete with the right classic arcade games, music, and pizza. So this summer, live it up on your Xbox 360 and enjoy our new twists on the old classic faves.”
Every Wednesday for the next 5 weeks a new Arcade game will be released at 8am GMT, which would be midnight Pacific Time. The schedule is as follows:
- July 12 β Frogger
- July 19 β Cloning Clyde
- July 26 β Galaga
- August 2 β Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
- August 9 β Pac-Man

I’m just preparing you for the on-slaught if/when the Halo 3 demo is released, but straight back on topic:
Who really thinks this will hold up? Will MS actually do this EVERY Wednesday? If they don’t, think the Prey demo catastrophe, but 10x worse.
All of these have been in testing for quite some time now, so I don’t foresee big problems in making this promise work. And they didn’t announce anything beyond the next 5 weeks.
Nice about time! Now people will just be moaning about the prices when they are released!

well, Call me crazy, but I agree with you on the first part.. I liked the MK series better then the SF series. Couldn’t get those moves in my fingers on the SF game.. Still loved it anywayz

I just got confirmation that Frogger will be 400 points and will be available in all Xbox Live regions.
I just talked to the server team and the content is set to go out at 0100 PT….looks like someone forgot to factor in daylight savings time!
