I've had my 360 since launch and never had one problem with it until I was forced to install this great "update". Immediately after it installed and rebooted, DOA4 locked up on me three times in a row. I thought maybe it was just that game. Well I tried the two other 360 games I own as well as DVD movies and even taking the hard drive off and trying games...still locks up! It will even lockup sometimes as the 360 logo comes up when first turning it on. I have no idea how my system could go from working perfectly to crap with a little Live update...especially without the hard drive attached even. And yes, my system and power supply are out in the open on a flat surface so it doesn't overheat...just like it's been since launch. This really sucks. Microsoft is sending me a box to ship it to them for repairs, but first I need to spend $40 on a memory card to backup my saved games just in case they wipe the hard drive. Anyone have a great day like me?

The update a few days ago didn't fix anything to do with the crashing/freezing when viewing/backing out of someone's gamercard while in a Playtime lobby/End of race.

For all we know this was the webcam update. I don't think it would show the webcam functionality until you connected a webcam to it.

Microsoft most certainly knows more about any CoD2 patch than we do. That's something different than whether they are willing to disclose it. HardOCP's source confirmed Tuesday as the release date, and considering that it isn't here yet supposedly Microsoft, Activision or Infinity Ward had a reason not to release it. Hell will freeze over before they publicly admit that though. Considering the source was absolutely right about the dashboard update on Monday I have no reason not to trust him on the CoD2 patch release date, so something else must have happened. If a playtester experienced one single crash the last day before release, they will postpone the patch with a week. Would we even know what happened? Highly unlikely.

On the subject of the dashboard update: what did you expect? Fireworks shooting from your Xbox 360? It would suddenly make coffee? It would bring world peace in a box?

No, it was supposed to fix all common problems found in games up to date. If you haven't had any technical problems in games since you got the update, you've seen a noticeable difference. Sometimes the absence of things (like crashes, lockups or achievements not being assigned) can also be a major difference.

So in other words, Microsoft know no more about any COD 2 patch than we do and it was conjecture from your source?

The dashboard update wasn't exactly 'major' either. Downloaded in seconds and made no noticeable difference here.
