Fun and completely useless XBLA facts

Whilst compiling his own list of Xbox Live Arcade sales figures, Neogaf forum goon C4Lukins uncovered a few interesting points about a handful of Arcade games. Full list of sales figures and meaningless trivia after the jump.

Would you believe that more than twenty thousand UNO gamers suck to the point of having never won a single-player game? And where simple mathematics would dictate that with four default lives and receiving 50 points upon death, (4 x 50 = 200) people are actually able to get less than 200 points in Joust! The other little notes:

The worst finishing time on the first level of Marble Blast Ultra, is over an hour.
Over 40 people purchased Geometry wars between 1am and 2am Central time while I was compiling this list.
Cloning Clyde sold 8500 copies on its first day, and 5410 on its second day.

By checking out the lowest scores in the Leaderboards - since Microsoft never releases sales figures - C4Lukins managed to compile a list of how many of each arcade game’s been sold. Here’s what he’s got as of Friday, July 21:

Astropop- 21,321
Cloning Clyde- 14,063
Crystal Quest- 29,557
Feeding Frenzy- 50,229
Geometry Wars- 188,428
Joust- 45,010
Marble Blast Ultra- 107,886
Mutant Storm Reloaded- 38,726
Robotron 2084- 22,887
Smash TV- 78,790
Uno- 143,223
Wik Fable of Souls- 15,591
Zuma- 70,264

Those are, at any rate, figures he’s absolutely sure of. Interesting stuff, and it’s good to see Cloning Clyde do good. I kind of liked it.

This also includes demo players though, doesn’t it? I’ve got Frogger in my recent games list, but I’ve only played the demo.

Cloning Clyde’s almost overtaken Wik after two days :D

Actually, he based that off the number of people on the leaderboard. You’re score only gets added to the leaderboard if you buy the game. It’s supposed to be one of the incentives to buy the game.

There is a chance that some people buy the game over live, but are never signed into Xbox Live when they actually play the game. If that happened, their score would not be added to the leaderboard. I’m sure those numbers are very close to actuals though.

The only game I would buy to get on the Leaderboards is Geometry Wars. My dreams is to atleast be in the top 1,000 :)

Haha, I was gonna do that once. But some games don’t let you scroll all the way to the bottom. I hate that.

Instead of alphabetically, though, you should order the list by greatest to least number of players.

Anyway, good list. And good work.

I didn’t do it, that would be a dude from the Neogaf forums ;)

I’ll buy cloning clycle soon when i get new mspoints.

Sorry, but i’m a nazi today (spelling nazi)

Hahahaha shut up. ;)

Nazi’s are a bad thing.

Nazis are cool when you get to shoot them in CoD games ;)

I think those may be off somehow cuz I thought Greg C. recently said on major’s podcast that Uno surpassed Geometry Wars in total sales.

no he said Uno has the highest percentage of downloaded then purchaced. Basically meaning the percent of people that downloaded uno and paid for it which is something like 45% surpased geowars which previously was the best return rate

Well put.

Actually, those stats have to be inaccurate. Good work taking the time to go through the Leaderboards and all, but Greg Cannessa, head of XBLA, said in an interview the other day that UNO had just past Geometry Wars as the all-time XBLA bestseller. Sooo. . .something’s gotta give there. Still, interesting stats! It’s a bummer to see Wik bring in so little - it truly was an ingenius little indie-game.
