Well, here’s your chance to prove it! Xboxic is looking to expand its team with capable news posters to assist us in bringing you guys more news than any other site, before any other site. So if you’ve always wanted to try and stay sane under the benevolent dictatorship of a crazy bunch of Dutchies, read on.
The profile of our perfect candidate:
Very extremely top-notch solid English writing skills.- Able to write both entertaining and informing at the same time. Unlike most other sites, we appreciate a unique and identifying style.
- Global interest in anything related to gaming, not just Xbox.
- Strong opinion on things and not scared to voice it.
- Basic knowledge of XHTML/HTML.
- Good general knowledge of games, gaming hardware, game concepts and the games industry.
- Community minded, willing to participate actively in our comments and forum.
- Nationality and location do not matter, assuming you know the English language.
- Got some spare minutes to spend on a daily or near-daily basis.
Think this is you I’m describing, or at least a close enough match? Well then: write a letter explaining your gaming and/or writing history and why you are perfect for the job, add 3 articles to show off your capabilities, and send them off including your MSN-address to iwanttowritefor@xboxic.com. The three articles can cover any subject you choose, new or old, but at least one of them has to be hardware related and one of them has to cover a rumor.
Keep in mind that Xboxic is not a professional organization paying solid gold for your efforts. In our 6 month existence we’ve grown hard, currently serving over 1 million pageviews per month, but we’re not (yet) at the level where we can discuss stock options, company cars and yearly raises. Writing for Xboxic is fun, it’s cool to have lots of people appreciate your writing, you get to meet a lot of other gamers, it’s a way of getting writing experience, and you will even get some minor compensation for your efforts. But it’s not a job

I would send some stuff off, but you ruled me out with the “basic understanding of XHTML and HTML” part sadly.
But I think it’s great what you guys are doing with this, and what you guys have achieved over the past six months. I’ve really enjoyed being “with” your site (as a reader) and it has been obvious to see the site growing. Keep it up, I love my homepage!
If the XHTML/HTML part is the only thing holding you back don’t hesitate: the “basic understanding” really means nothing more than understanding that HTML consists of opening and closing tags and I’ll gladly have the rest of what you need to know explained in 15 mins if you qualify on the other counts
Most of the complex HTML, most notably image layout, is automatically generated by the backend software anyway.

OK, well I’ll get some stuff together then. I know how to open and close tags, I think. Wikipedia is bound to produce some stuff anyway! I go on holiday on Thursday for two weeks though so if you “close” this, I won’t know the results for a while! Also, can the rumour be an old rumour, or one just surfacing at the moment or what?!

@ Meppel: “ofcourse” is a common small mistake for non-native English speakers, as is writing plurals with an apostroph for those whose native language is Dutch. Sue me, I’m Dutch

Hey I was just wondering, since you’ve stated that the writing position isn’t a job, will you be paying people, and if so, what will be the wages, I’d like to say I’m a good writer, and would not mind writing, on the side while I go to school, but for me, between work and school, there would have to be an incentive, to get me to space the time for my lady and my 360. That’s just me though!!!

You know, this offer sounds good, but what I want to know, is if you will make a conscious effort to get someone to write during the American period (about 2-6 am GMT time). I love Xboxic, but the stories are always right there when I get on the computer, and no new ones pop us during the time I am on, (from like 9 pm to 2-4 am.) And yes Cage and Rossko, i’m going for the longest commment ever in a post about newsposter position at xboxic.com being available for the masses.
We already have 2 Americans and 1 Brit. But a third American is not out of the question, as we said; we don’t care where the new poster is from. Good point though, we’d really like some more around the clock coverage…

They didm’t actually deny you though, just commented that it is generally a bad idea, I can see there point in a way as they don’t make games like barbie meets my little pony for a platform picnic for the guys. But I also know women who are shit hot gamers and clearly have something to offer, so if you think thats you why not prove them wrong and submit something to them, no need to be so defensive.
Well suggesting that for me to post, i’d need to use my boyfriends newsposter account…generally means denial. I just think it’s a shitty thing to even bring up, that women and games don’t mix. On a general note; anyone who submits their stuff before this Sunday is going to hear from us this weekend probably. You can always submit after that but it might take a little longer since I’m quite busy of the next couple of weeks.
Correction : you’ll probably hear from us this week, not weekend. Curry’s out of town so I can’t discuss the submissions with him and he can’t forward me anything but I’ll look through what I got from him tomorrow. Sorry for the ‘false’ info.
