Ubi announces Import Tuner Challenge

After all the Need for Speed games from EA and Midnight Club from Rockstar, Ubi decided they needed a street racing game too and announced Import Tuner Challenge. ITC is in development by Genki Japan exclusively for Xbox 360, and also known as Tokyo Xtreme Racer X. Set in Tokyo, one might wonder the game is trying to lift on the recently released movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Ubisoft scheduled ITC for release in Europe this Autumn. After the jump a feature list and a bunch of screenshots.

In the press release Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing at Ubisoft, stated:
Import Tuner Challenge brings unprecedented car customization and speed to the racing genre. The game offers more tuning possibilities than any other street-racing game to date on Xbox 360 and will submerge players into Tokyo’s thrilling underground.

Authentic import street racing: Includes real Tokyo highways and regions, all the hottest licensed import sports cars and concept vehicles and the most prized import tuner part manufacturers.

More than 5 million customizations: Select from a vast warehouse of specialized parts to customize a car’s interior, exterior and engine. Includes everything from authentic aero kits from Mazdaspeed, C-West and Veilside to racing seats from Recaro and Bride.

Tune your car like a mechanic: Install custom parts with the click of a button and hit the streets wheels spinning. Players can fine-tune their parts to suit a specific race.

Conquer the toughest and fastest street-racing teams: With more than 400 unique opponents with different strengths, weaknesses and custom cars, never play the same game twice.

Take your ride to Xbox Live: See how your custom tuner stacks up in head-to-head in Versus mode – take your most extreme mods straight to the streets to dominate all who challenge.

This is excellent news for me, I loved the original Tokyo Extreme Racer on the Playstation. This game has a lot of haters but I personally cant wait for it. The tuning options are immense.

Ya they busted their butt adding tuning parts but they slacked on teh graphics a bit they need to up the textures before i’ll be … “happy” then again im more a forza guy lol

I may be mistaken but I thought the first one of these games was on the Dreamcast?

I had it, it was good. Then I became aware that I was driving round the same stretch of highway over and over again and there was actually only one track!!!?!?!?!?!?

So if its the same in that it has loads of customization but one bit of highway to drive it on it could be a bit mince, but we will see.
