FIFA 07 features announced / 360 Version not yet officially confirmed…
The first details of features that will grace this year’s version of EA’s FIFA 07 have been spilled to IGN, however according the article; somewhat curiously the Xbox 360 version of the game has yet to be officially confirmed…
Mind you, a quick visit to the recently launched official FIFA 07 Website clearly shows an Xbox 360 logo, so it should just be a matter of time. Does that mean we might get something totally different for the 360? It just doesn’t seem EA’s style… if you catch my drift…

The new features being touted for all confirmed formats thus-far promise an overhauled game engine (again!), including a new shooting system aimed at giving more shot control to the user, while AI is also claimed to have been improved to ensure that gamers have to use ‘real-life’ tactics… Don’t we hear this same stuff every year?
The other new interesting feature is the online-based ‘EA Sports Interactive Leagues’, which sees you pilot your favoured team against fans of their real-life opposition, while following the actual season schedule. This sounds like it could be a very interesting feature indeed, one for football fans who take special pride in playing online with their supported club.
“We are still innovating the gameplay on our current-gen game, and this year, the new online Interactive Leagues will bring together football fans from around the world and allow them to experience the glory and shame of their clubs, 24/7,” said Joe Booth, producer of FIFA 07.
The problem is every year we are told that FIFA is finally ready to mount a serious challenge for the title, and every year it disappoints. My thought on this problem is that it’s caused by the annual engine overhaul. In my opinion FIFA 06 on the original Xbox came the closest to matching the mighty Pro Evolution Soccer in recent years. And instead of building on that success, they decide to start the process afresh; the result of that process is there to be seen in the EA’s current poor efforts on the 360. Will we see this change this year? You can never be sure, but in this reporters eyes you can’t help but be excused for being more excited about finding out what skills Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will bring to the next-gen pitch, when it will be presented for the first time in the Games Convention in Leipzig later this month.
Also worth a look is Eurogamers full interview with FIFA 07 producer Joe Booth.
FIFA 07 is currently confirmed for PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, DS, GBA, PSP, PC and Mobiles, and should be in stores sometime in early October.

Sound interesting in deed!
PES6 will wipe it off the pitch, but more people will buy FIFA because it features officially licensed haircuts.
Officially licensed haircuts are DAMN IMPORTANT though.
who cares? PES is where the real action is
We’ll see about that!
Yep, I suppose we will just like every other time a PES and FIFA get released and PES turns out to be the better game (shit menu system though).
Oh i wonder if this time EA will include such wild features as the ability to play both halves without being kicked off the server, or maybe a game without such stupid amounts of lag that you are always running off the pitch before you even know where your player is. Or they could get really radical and allow voice chat in the lobby. Or maybe more than one a side, that would be so crazy and futuristic surely we must be decades away from the technology needed for this?
