Microsoft releases current Xbox 360 sales figures
The Xbox 360 seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment, and it seems Microsoft have released some impressive sales figures to help back up this idea.
Microsoft are pretty chuffed with themselves at the moment. Not only do they expect to shift 10 million Xbox 360 units by Christmas 2006, but apparently the Xbox 360 has a peripheral attach rate of a whopping 2.9 accessory units per console, which is a US record for any console considering the machine has only been out for nine months. Another interesting statistic is that on average each 360 gets 4.6 games for its library. Not bad for something people were comparing to the Dreamcast (sales wise) only ten months ago.
This all seems quite amazing, but even more amazing is the fact Microsoft expect to shift up to 15 million 360’s by the end of the current fiscal year in June 2007. This would give them a massive leap over Sony (unless Sony have a very strong supply chain set up in time for Christmas) and would put them so far ahead it would take a while for everybody else to catch up. Whatever happens, things are definitely looking up for Microsoft this year. Who knows, maybe good old Saint Nick will bring Bill Gates market dominance this year, despite the fact he already has plenty of it in the PC world.

Yep, perhaps one day we’ll allow you to log in
It makes me laugh “the best ever attach rate to any game console.”
You couldn’t buy a console with buying other shit peripherals with it, unless you eBayd it, then you were paying like £1,000!
TRIGGER thats true in a lot of case, but not all.
You have to hand it to MS they are doing a hell of a lot better then most people thought they would in the shadow of the sooon to be release “Mighty” PS3!
i bought mine without a bundle, just a 360 and also bought cod2.
Yeah and what about the PSP same story. At release every console or other hot device have been in shortage for some time.
If one doesn’t want to pay 1.000 euro’s/dollars/pounds whatever, one should have the brains to wait some months when they start to appear in shops again I would say…
So well, best ever attach rate, it could be a bit pushed with combined sales but not as far as that. As far as I’ve seen them in The Netherlands they were sold seperately mostly and very, very occasionally I’ve seen packages with a game/games.
lol.. i buyed 4 consoles on launch day from different stores and selled it the same day.. but i get banned on eBay.. (without any reason)
I bought mine at gamecrazy without it being bundled. Granted I still bought 6 accessories anyway.
We should tell her what we think of her article…google her name…
Sony are gonna be 3rd in the next-gen stakes.
As we all know at this moment, factories in Asia are pumping out alot of Playstation 3, ready for its launch on November 17th, 2006. Even with a year on the PS3, the Xbox360 should enjoy a huge lead for at least the next 2 years. Most people agree that it will take at least until 2009-2010 till the PS3 catches up (if it ever will) to the Xbox360 sales. Only in Japan will the Playstation 3 overtake the Xbox360 within 2007, since we all know that the Xbox360 sales in Japan are horrible. If Mircosoft drops the price $100.00 a week before the PS3 launches (rumor about this price drop is still going on), Sony might as well pack it in now for lose more money and drop the price of the PS3 by the same amount. If Mircosoft really wants to put a nail in the Playstation 3, that would be the best way of doing it.
