Overly expensive Chromehounds equipment available

Oh great, a bunch of new Chromehounds items appeared on the Xbox Live Marketplace. They’re free like the previous ones right? Well, not exactly. These 10 new items consist of 5 new weapons, 3 spacers, 1 new color pattern and a generator. The spacers cost 60 points each and the rest can be grabbed for 100 points a pop.

  • Light arms 01: A rifle with a special internal mechanism enabling triple-burst firing (100GP).
  • Heavy arms 02: Improved MS1000. More powerful propellant (100GP).
  • Light arms 03: High-speed automatic machinegun designed by researching Tarakia’s rapid-fire mechanism (100GP).
  • Light arms 04: New anti-HOUND rocket that uses a different missile. Low muzzle velocity, but extremely powerful (100GP).
  • Spacer 01: Tarakian V-spacer to have 2 junctions (60GP).
  • Light arms 05: Improved cannon with long gun barrel for accurate shot (100GP).
  • Spacer 02: Morskoj spacer, useful in various locations (60GP).
  • Generator 01: Third generation generator of Morskoj based on G1500. Armor improved (100GP).
  • Spacer 03: Sal Kari T-spacer with seperated junctions (60GP).
  • Color Pattern 03: Color: WWII Winter Camouflage (100GP).

I used to make fun about Oblivion’s horse armor, but not anymore because Chromehounds is a game I like. These parts have undergone quite an upgrade compared to the weapons they’re based on and might become too much to handle for people who haven’t bought them. Is this really where we’re going with the Marketplace Microsoft?

At least you can always download the 4 freely available ones: Light arms 02, Heavy arms 01, Assist parts 01 and Color 02.

Big hug to YLA G for letting us know.

“is this where we’re going with the marketplace microsoft?”

why ask microsoft ask the chromehounds team, their the ones selling it for this price.

I thought MS had the final word, developer only had persuasions.

i love this game, but this is redickaluss. microsoft negotiates with the developer about pricing, when the publisher agrees on a good price. when its not a good price microsoft has nothing to do with it……

It’s only expensive if you actually buy the stuff. If nobody buys it, they’ll either lower the price, give it for free or not create the content at all.

MS didn’t create Marketplace for the hell of it. It’s there to make money. What marketplace in the real world do you go to and expect free stuff.

I totally agree. If nobody buys then nobody will sell.

Yeah these prices are totally outrageous. The consoles were the even playing fields online, the rich and the poor have the same framerate.

But they just couldn’t handle that, now the rich can get more powerful in all online games too.
Its pretty sick, I still refuse to buy any of this add-on stuff, maybe if they were like a Quater or something, but all these prices are crazy.
Whats the point of 1 point?

Selling extra content is fine, as long as it doesn’t badly effect the game you have paid for.

What i’ve read suggests that these new weapons are slightly over-powered and shift the game into the favour of those who buy them.

i hate all of this over priced crap on market place and I refuse to buy any of it besides arcade games; they are the only thing worth buying but no one should buy this add on content its a total ripoff

From Major Nelson’s website, from one of the clan leaders online in Chromehounds:

“You also NEED to purchase these DLC items to get the Hound Specialist achievement in the game, as you need to own one of each part. So basically anyone who wants to get a full 1000 achievement points in Chromehounds (looking at you my fellow Blogcritics poster) has to pay nearly 1000 points for the priveledge.”

Now, isn’t that just what we all feared? The DLC is now breaking achivements. Can’t just buy the game now and expect to get what you think is a complete game. You can’t get one of the achivements now without this pack.

RIPOFF.

And you think Consumables in games is still a good idea Microsoft? Pull your head out of your Ferrari and smell what you are shoveling…
