Vision Camera bundles, and price
It isn’t confirmed completely, but computerandvideogames.com has reported that they’ve acquired bundle details and price details of the Xbox 360 Vision Camera from a reliable source. As I said before, this is still about 78% true, 22% rumor.
This was in the article:
In case you don’t know, the Camera is designed to abet online gamers communicative methods with the added bonus of video messaging for games compatible with the device. Although such games seemed focused towards specific Live Arcade titles, certain developers have begun tinkering with its capabilities in mind. Ubisoft, for example, is integrating support in its Rainbow Six: Vegas for visual hand gesturing. And we don’t mean the sort of gestures you might wag to a moron who’s just driven over your foot in a clapped-out, family Volvo.
The camera is still being scheduled for September 19. For the prices of the camera and the bundles, here’s what they have:
The two bundled deals rumoured to be available from September 19 are:
STANDARD KIT(expected RRP $39.99 - £21)
-Xbox Live Vision Camera
-Xbox Live Headset
-One ‘free’ month on Xbox Live Gold
-TotemBall Live Arcade Game
-Uno Live Arcade GameGOLD KIT (expected RRP $79.99 - £42)
-Xbox Live Vision Camera
-Xbox Live Headset
-’Free’ Xbox Live Gold subscription for a year [and a] month
-TotemBall Live Arcade Game
-Uno Live Arcade Game
-A third Xbox Live Arcade Game (tbc)
-200 Microsoft points
I personally think the camera should be released with two brand new arcade titles with Vision functionality, just so we don’t have to buy the same game (UNO) twice since it’s included in both bundles.
I’m still questioning how Microsoft will police the pictures. I guess that’s why online multiplayer always shows the ‘ESRB NOTICE: Game experience may change during online play.’. A technicality may keep Microsoft from having to keep track of everyone.

Thanks Rossko UK for submitting!

GOLD KIT -> ’Free’ Xbox Live Gold subscription for a year month
A year or a month? Or a year and one month?
You can’t correct a direct quote from the site, sorry.
Sure you can!
They should offer it alone without any bundle.. for ???? $19.99? I don’t need another headset, another Uno, I can do without a free month and just pay for another year when the time comes.. ok ok they can throw in totemball.. so price it at $24.99.
Policing the images won’t be a huge issue. They already announced how it will all work. On your gamercard you will have 2 gamerpics. A personal one, and a general one. The general one has to be one of the premade gamerpics from the service, and this is the picture that everyone (except friends) will see when you play with them online. The personal picture is one that can be taken with the camera and this picture can ONLY be seen by people on yout friends list.
They might use that same idea with the online games as well where you can scan your ”face” into the game, being that only people on your friends list can see you like that, otherwise the others just see a standard game model!
Most of the people in my friends list, I know nothing about in real life, which enables them to put naughty pictures in their profiles which I can see. How is Microsoft going to police that? They still need to do it somewhere, don’t they?
I’m sorry, but I don’t think the cam is a good idea if it is not policed by Microsoft. I understand that it would be a very small number, but it will allow porn pictures to be shared over live and with the increase in detection of kiddy porn this could be the ideal method for these perverts to share their pictures with their friends without getting caught.
Have MS even considered this or are they only interested in the cash which seems to be the case considering their consumables idea across live marketplace.
I think most people exagerate this kind of stuff. Most people will be horrified at that remark. Of course MS would of thought of that stuff, but it’s the same as the webcam via MSN messenger, there isn’ a lot that they can do, except monitor every single picture, which would be impossible thing to do.
I know, I would hope most people would be horrified at the idea, but it only takes a extreamly small number to make this a problem and when you consider the number of players on live then the likelyhood increases. Where I live (Scotland) I cannot even film my own children in a school play without the consent of all parents just incase there happens to be a pedo in the room with a camera and I’d say that is even more unlikely. Children need protected and authorities have a lot of trouble keeping up with technology. I think that it is us that loose out on a great many things because these people exsist and I’d like to think that MS would police and report anyone missusing the technology.
With the parental controls, there will probably be an option to prevent the live account from receiving custom images &/or web cam convos
I’d imagine we might get a new Feedback option in the dashboard, allowing us to report a gamertag for unacceptable picture or something.
In the article, I wish those conversion-to-£ prices were correct, but we’ll get screwed over as usual, no doubt we’ll pay £40/£60 for those bundles. And it probably won’t be released over here til Xmas.
Import my man, Import
The cam is coming out over here 29th September 2006 and is priced at £39.99 from gameseek.co.uk or darkplanets.co.uk who are pre-ordering.
Blimey Studley…its you AGAIN!!!
I agree, I think there’ll be a report bad cammer option. I wonder if there’ll be a new Strip Uno..lol
How stupid to include UNO. It was like the most downloaded game on Arcade. I’d be willing to bet that like 80% of people that buy the camera already have UNO.
This is probably a different subject, but who hates that plastic packaging that nearly slices your hand off with these Xbox360 accessories. I bought a hard-drive and nearly was never around to see it! It looks the same with the cam, you’ll never get it out
Agreed. Completely.
I find using a bblowtorch a good method of getting in.
lol
Is Peter Moore gonna go around kissing people now? Because I swear we’re getting screwed on these accessory prices.
I don’t want to buy it just because I loathe the idea of having another completely worthless headset lying around.
By the way, if your concerned for your children’s well being you should have forbid them from xbox live long, long before a camera was announced. I wish people would stop calling for everything to be policed. It is very irritating.
If you don’t have kids all over Xbox Live, it’s easy for you to say that.
If you have kids on Live, you should set up child accounts for them and select what features they can use. I’m sure there will be an option to prevent the usage of the camera for their accounts
that camera is so ugly , it looks like something i would have i my toilet
I totally agree. I prefer the earlier design which was wider (the same width as the top of the xbox standing up) looks like it could have clipped itself to the top just in front of the hard drive. But I think it got scrapped because it would be pointless having a cam attached to the 360 because for most people it’s under the telly, so we’d on have a cam view of waist down.
See they should have stuck with the original design http://www.xbox360extras.com/link%5C10.html
Why would you have a web cam in your toilet?
what about people that post inappropreit pictures how is ms going to deal with that
Ha, did you even read the last 400 posts about that?
yea we need a none bundle option…
dudes, the only people who can see ur custom pic are the people on ur friends list. there wont be any porno on xbox.com. i remember major nelson strictly saying that is the reason for two game pic options since the last dashbaord update. random people wont see ur booty pics unless they want to. but u cant control what people do on the cam though. its the kind of mass market material that will help this system though.
Yeah I have to agree I liked the orginal design better also.
As for the obsence pictures, whos cares really, its it going to bother you honestly? Firstly kids that young should be supervised in front of something like an xbox. And ones that are old enough not to be, have already seen the horrors of the world. The news is full of sick people. People will report these sickos and they will get shut down.
Some kid giving the middle finger, big deal.
I also think the bundles really suck, as everyone noted, everyone has UNO already. I too would have liked to see a bundle with just Totem and the Camera for cheaper.
Whats with the extra headset?? They know how many people have a broken one already, LoL.
If it was wireless, NOW that would be worth it.
Oh yeah, what ever happened to packaging that Protected a product from damage.
The only thing this kinda package protects from is the owner getting into it.
Just look at how the camera would get so wrecked from getting dropped or banged around at the store… Even the 360 itself had pretty poor protection inside the box.
Hopefully there is a camera you can buy seperately as the two kits are stupid! The standard kit is stupid because Im guessing the majority of people buying a camera already have xbox live gold membership, already have UNO, already have a headset. The gold kit is even more stupid again because who needs a useless 200 points, if you get free xbox gold membership for a year then refund us all for what we’ve paid already…some of us £5 a month which makes a £60 a year subscription. Those with a current headset (that didn’t come bundled) should take it back to the shops as faulty if you’re going to buy a camera with one included and get a refund voucher towards something else.
ill buy the gold kit. ur getting xbox live, points, and so forth for 40 dollars more. ur saying like 30 dollars and u can stack ur subscriptions one on top of the other. but then again im good until novemeber 07. i suppose both kits have their uses.
You have a point, actually, a year of XBL normally costs $50. Though, I won’t need a new XBL subscription until like April. And even then I’m not sure I want the camera.
Check out pictures of the retail package we got a hold of at a local Toys R Us here.
