We just got out of our meeting with Jun Takeuchi and his lovely translator. They were kindly enough to answer almost all of our questions and we’re happy to present the first few details from said interview. We’ll post the full interview later on but there were a couple of details we couldn’t keep to ourselves much longer. Our first newspost from Leipzig wouldn’t be complete without 2 fresh new (timed) exclusive screenshots from the multiplayer mode. The full interview and the full set of new screenshots will follow later on.
The multiplayer mode shown here in Leipzig consists of 4 players duking it out with another 4 players, the full version will support up to 16 players in one match, or that’s the target at least. The 2 big modes in Multiplayer will be a survival mode and a CTF type mode. Unfortunately Co-op was something that didn’t make it into the game due to time constraints. Takeuchi and the fans really wanted it, but there simply wasn’t enough time.
Here in Leipzig there’s an updated Singleplayer demo accompanying the multiplayer demo which is basically the demo that’s currently on the Marketplace with a few minor changes including and increased difficulty level and a melee attack. He couldn’t tell if they would release a multiplayer demo. The full Singleplayer is going to be roughly 10 hours long.
The full game will have 4 different types of Vital Suites (those mechs) including a Bird type (which can’t actually fly).
The full game will contain more than just snow levels, there are going to be other extreme conditions as well including extreme hotness.
Capcom is aiming for a release in January 2007 for Lost Planet which is an Xbox 360 exclusive at the moment.
