Assassin’s Creed running on a 360, again? [updated]

Japanese website 4Gamer.net has an extensive Assassin’s Creed preview. Not very interesting for those who don’t speak Japanese but there’s something fishy about it. In one of the pictures a dev is standing in front of a TV with the AC logo on it. There’s a console standing next to it but it isn’t a PS3, the console to which AC is ‘exclusive’ according to Ubisoft. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of AC allegedly running on a 360; IGN reported on it at E3 but the article got pulled.

Update: Sources tell us that AC wasn’t the only game shown at this event and that those 360s could’ve been there for other purposes. See this post as entertainment, not as OMFGWTF breaking news.

Assasin's Creed

So how long is Ubisoft planning on keeping this a ’secret’? If think the counter is at 30 or so sources claiming that AC is actually coming to Xbox 360 and Ubisoft still hasn’t denied anything. I guess Ubi is waiting until AC is released on PS3 to announce the upgraded version of AC for 360 and PC but this is mere speculation.

Assasin’s Creed is set for a release in March 2007 for Playstation 3.

Thanks for submitting The M.A.R.T!

If you look carefully, the 360 isn’t actually turned on. Don’t know if this means anything.

Good find but as An Alien said; one of the TV’s isn’t switched on either. But the fact that there is a 360 and no PS3 in there is curious enough for me.

Yeah, but if the game isn’t complete yet, how would it be running on a normal 360, wouldn’t they need some kind of dev kit? (Sorry, I’m not arguing with you, rather discussing it with you.)

It is a dev kit - you can tell by the huge pack where the harddrive should be (shows more on the bottom 360 - the white pack)

Oh, I thought that was a Halo 2 faceplate…

Well, did you noticed that none of the 2 xbox 360’s got a green circle on?
And maby those are connect to the tv where the guy is standing in front.

Well, they are gona release it on X360, it’s the main console platform, why ignore the big money you can make with it.

Yeah I did, and I beat you to it.

Hmm, it looks on to me, I can see a bit of a green light top left quarter.

What are you talking about?

Well There are two TV’s and twop 360’s for a reason, what is showing the Assassin’s Creed if they are both of, and I can’t tell for sure if the light on the top 360 is on or not, I think it may be, just the controller hasn’t been turned on yet.

Comment by STEVE on 2006-08-28 21:44:57 | Reply

Yeah the system looks like it’s on to me too.

2 TV’S … 2 360′S and i hate to say this to yall but the top 360 appears to be on upon close inspection while the bottom is off… strange eh… 1 tv is on and 1 is off as well

Why would 4gamer fake the image? They didnt come out saying they were annoucing it for the 360 no it is just the image happened to showcare the 360 next to AC in a logical setup.

What you all seem to neglect to realize is the lack of a ps3 anywhere in this picture, let me guess. like e3 the ps3 is magically hidden out of sight for some reason? Ya uh huh sure

i saw the demonstration twice. There was NO demonstration of AC on 360. Both 360s was used for a other presentation (Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell). The demonstration of AC was only a video on a pc!

Thanks for elaborating, still an amusing picture ;)

Select the picture and blow it up. The ring light is definitely on. Whether AC is running on it, is a complete different story.
No PS3 in sight so we know it’s not running on that machine as well.

Actually, Assassins Creed HAS IN FACT been shown running in real time…it was at the Microsoft X05 Trade Show when this game was still called, “Project Assassins.”

Two trade shows remain this year: The Tokyo Game Show, and the Microsoft X06, which will be in Spain this year. Microsoft will show all of the Japanese products like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Phantasy Star Universe, Sega Rally, Golden Axe, and many others at the Tokyo Game Show. We may even hear some new announcements that were previously unannounced on purpose, just so they get a lot of hype in Japan. As far as the Microsoft X06 Trade Show geos, I think that is when we will learn a lot more about games like Halo 3, Project Assassins/Assassins Creed, Killer Instinct 360, and many other new games previously unannounced.

who says there isnt a ps3 just outside the picture??

why does if have to be running on the 360, what about a pc off screen?

Comment by James Ward on 2006-08-29 09:45:29 | Reply

This is a doctored photo. In the original, AC isn’t on the screen. Someone took the AC load screen and superimposed it over whatever was on there in the first place.

Guy, I WAS THERE. Exactly at that AC presentation. It wasn’t running on Xbox 360 but on a PC under the table!

The 360s were there simply because the same room was used for showcasing SC:DA and R6:Vegas.

Bullshit!

Comment by STANNY on 2006-08-29 12:18:29 | Reply

as has already been said the 360 is on.
and the pc under the table looks a lot like a card board box. It seems a lot of sony fanboys are willing to claim to have been at the presentation in order to defend there beloved sony

Comment by The_Glovner on 2006-08-29 10:27:53 | Reply

MMmmm, couple of posts from the PS3 fanboys perhaps?

Boy, I own an italian Xbox fansite. I’m all but a Sony fanboy, and I tell you: I was in that presentation and it was running on a PC under the table. The two 360s were for SCDA and R6Vegas.

First off don’t call me boy, bitch.

You don’t know me or my age so what makes you think you can address me like that?

2nd, how do you even know I was talking to you and not the two posts directly above from people grasping on to any reason why it may not be running on a 360.

Now fuck off.

My sincere excuses. I dind’t know that “boy” is an offence word in USA. I’m sorry I mad you so upset, it wasn’t my scope: I simply was trying to be helpful.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2006-08-29 12:02:57 | Reply

Apology accepted.

I ain’t from the USA, i’m from Scotland.

Using the term boy to describe a 27yr old man just came across as a bit disrespectful.

Well, I’m 34 and I still consider myself a boy, so… ^__^

I have been at this presentation. It was actually at the Games Convention in Leipzig a few days ago. At the beginning I thought “Cool, a live presentation of AC”, but then i realized, that the shown stuff was online a trailer and the Ubisoft-guy was talking about it. Sorry, no Xbox 360 was involved in this presentation. ;-)

Nah, keep it. By the looks of that picture, the creators have no sence of art, or even know how to use a computer.
