Nintendo COO not a fan of ‘Wii60′

It sounded so good, Wii60. A combination of 2 consoles, one focusing on games for die-hard gamers and high-def graphics, one for the casual and party gamers for a low price. Xbox 360 and Nintendo fans rejoiced, even Peter Moore said that you’d be able to buy an Xbox 360 and a Wii for the price of 1 Playstation 3. But Nintendo COO Reggie Fils-Aime isn’t on the bandwagon. In an interview with USA Today he said that he’d rather have you “buy a Wii, some accessories, and a ton of games” than buying any of his competitor’s products.

Sorry Reggie but I already own a 360 and I plan to “buy a Wii, some accessories, and a ton of games” on day one. I hope you don’t get mad.

The Nintendo Wii is expected sometime by the end of this year for a price of $200 but that’s all speculation by fans, Nintendo still hasn’t announced any details yet.

and you even watermark it you cheeky gits!

We watermark stuff because people hotlink images from our servers all the time, and the watermarks are as such free advertising to compensate for bandwidth costs ;)

Even Bill is handsome.

Boo, Reggie F! T! L!

Q: Microsoft has made the comment that people can buy an Xbox 360 and Wii for about the same price as a PlayStation 3. Would you mind terribly if that happened?

A: I’d much rather have the consumer buy a Wii, some accessories, and a ton of games, vs. buying any of my competitor’s products.

What happend to the whole argument that the Xbox 360 and PS3 aren’t competitors? “We’re going in a new direction blah blah blah.”

Reggie, keep your PR moves straight.

I usually don’t agree with Reggie. The only thing that I have sided with him in a while is “there is not a large amount of HDTV owners yet.” I think Nintendo should take advantage of this oppertunity. This companionship could mean the microsoft fans will get nintendos too and the casual gamers will find both systems more appealing. Want to play those hard core mature games? Play your 360. Want to play some low-core party games? Play your Wii. I think that works out perfectly. I know that a large amount of NOA employees are in fact exited about this Wii60 campaign.

The wii 60 idea is a good marketing ploy, and Reggie needs to realise Ninty need MS as much as they need Ninty if sony are to face any serious challenge this Christmas.

LOL this is kinda obvious, he wants people to buy his product, in reality the MS team wants you to buy a 360 a 2-3 games and a extra controller instead of a 360 and a wii… the fact is from a consumer standpoint its a wider range if you get both consoles…

AS for the microsoft statement, they basically were just pointing out that the ps3 is as expensive as both its competitors put together.

I guess hes right to say that in business term at least.

I own a 360 (well it’s my 2nd replacement) and I plan on getting a Wii also, but NOT a PS3. I like the look of the Wii controller and the download of N64 games (hopefully diddykong racing and goldeneye)

wii graphics suck so iwont get 1

It’s got Mario Party with a wand… think of the possibilities!

There have been huge rumors that Nintendo is actually holding back and not showing the full potential of the graphics. From what I understand, the ATI card was still in development a month before E3. I would NOT judge the GRAPHICS at this time if I were you. The only thing you can really rely on at this time is what the games can offer. Don’t be TOO prejudice.

uh oh. TRIGGER, you’re dirty.

I’m 16, what you expect ;)

I was implying about the minigames anyway!

Uhm… Of course Reggie would rather you buy more Nintendo stuff. It’s more money in his pocket (even if Wii and 360 aren’t competing directly). But it’s obvious that if the choice is between Wii+360 and Wii+PS3, Nintendo would rather you bought a 360 along with your Wii, since neither Nintendo nor Microsoft want Sony to be as dominant as they were last time.
