Xboxic: Same site, new logo
Our many longtime readers may have gotten a heart attack when they opened Xboxic this evening, as a new logo is gracing the topleft corner all of a sudden. Luckily, only the logo has changed and there will be no change to the way we bring you all Xbox-related news as quick as possible.
The original logo was drawn by yours truly in approximately 5 minutes when we first launched the site late last year, and hasn’t changed since. The reason I was able to create it this fast was simply that there wasn’t much originality involved either: I’d simply ripped the original Xbox logo and modified it very slightly. Acceptable for a small Xbox blog perhaps, but not for the self-respecting news site we’ve become, serving content to over 150,000 unique visitors per month, as we were strictly speaking obviously infringing Microsoft’s copyright and trademarks. So here we are, same site, but with a new professionally designed logo. We hope you like it!
Simultaneously, this is the point where I definitely had to drop the “Classic” theme for the site. Judging by our statistics, I will have to apologize to less than 10 visitors per month, and I hope they don’t mind too much about finally having to upgrade to the new Xboxic look
While I am on the frontpage soapbox I’ll also gladly mention that feedback on the new logo is always welcome, no we didn’t pay TRIGGER M4N for that topic, and we’ve also opened dedicated forums for gaming on other platforms than Xbox and Xbox 360. Feel free to join in on the discussions there or comment below as usual!

looks great
Nice logo^^.
Yeah I like it, gives it that “proffessional” look.
And I’m back everyone, don’t get too excited, I know y’all missed me!
I love it Curry. Nice.
OK, we’ll tell them that.
Very very nice.
FOR GOD SAKE GIVE ME BACK MY CLASSIC MODE!
Ah you were one of the ten?
My sincere apologies, but it was already messy and half disfunctional since some recent updates, and the new logo simply doesn’t fit in. So, this is the point I announced early in April where it’d become impossible to keep on running it
(by the way, logo is nice and slick!)
it’s…a controller S.
lol.
Nice logo though.
Actually the original design looked like The Duke
We changed it to this one which looks like both the Xbox 360 controller and indeed the similarly sized Controller S.
I like it..well done
awesome guys, kul that u went with an original design
Nobody likes change…..
Just kiddin’. Looks nice. Reminds me of the Bully game logo..
it looks proffesional, but i don’t really like it, not my style i guess. but then again, not my website.
i don’t see how the shield fits in to everything else.
Since before the Roman Empire the shield has been used as a recognition item: click
New logo ftw.
I’ll be honest, I don’t like it. It looks a bit odd.
You’ll get used to it.
That’s a shame to hear, but as always change takes getting used to. I hope in a few days you’ll like it as much as we do
*~DING!~*
Achivement Unlocked
You freed XBoxic 10 Points.
No more classic mode?? WHHHHHHHYYY? Were there seriously fewer than 10 of us per month?!
Not really digging the logo. Looks a bit plain or something…
You guys should seriously make that crest the image tag for the site so that shows up on my bookmark in Firefox when I open it!
It’s so pretty, I bet I could look at it, like, all day.
Ow yeah forgot that actually
It’ll get there
Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Don’t like it but then I’m slightly autistic and don’t cope well with changes
I’ll get used to it as this is definetely the best xbox news site so i’m drawn here about 5 times a day
Thanks!
5 times a day? n00b!
Dont like it. It makes the site look very basic and unprofessional.
I like it. It makes the site look very complicated and professional.
i like it, but i think it could look better. it looks very professional, but plain. maybe if you put something behind the controller, like just a little more detail. other than that, it looks very sharp =] but maybe im just not used to it :/ i do like it tho.
St Andrew’s cross would look nice, but maybe not on a Dutch run website.
