Games for £2.99 a week? You Tart!
It seems that it is turning out to be a great week for those that live in the UK, as hot off the heels of the Tiger Woods competition, us UK’ers now have the chance of renting games for as little as £2.99 a week.

That £2.99 works out at just under 47 pence a day, and also goes a very long way, since you can rent the games for as long as you like; there are no late fees and no due dates. Postage is also not a problem, as it is free both ways, so you really do only pay £2.99 for the priveledge of playing a RRP £50 game. And if, like me, you’ve never heard of Gametart before, when you sign up for the first time, you get a ten day free trial as a taster! They also offer games for the PS2 and PSP, which brings their catalogue of games up to 1300. From a press statement:
“The 360 has really taken hold in the last few months, and with the delay to the PS3, we thought this was the best time to offer 360 games to our customers”
Someone else taking a dig at the PS3 then! It is certainly a great way of doing things, because you can check whether or not you can read the text in Dead Rising for £2.99 instead of £50. The company has been up and running since 2004:
Gametart.com is the UK’s largest dedicated games rental website, having served many thousands of customers since it’s launch in May 2004.
And I am aware that although it says £2.50 on the homepage, on closer inspection of the FAQ it says £2.99 a week. Either way, it is still cheaper than highstreet stores, and you can have the game for as long as you want. Bargain!

I use http://www.flirtrental.co.uk I would recommend them too.
I used to use Gamefly, but it’s not the same as buying the games yourself. So I quit, and the last full 360 title I played was Oblivion.
I’m impressed with Swapgame, £9.99/month/1 game at a time, £14.99 for 2 at a time, £19.99 for 3. And they have games for the 360/Xbox/PS2/PSP/DS/Gamecube/GBA. You also earn reward points as your subscription continues, which you can use to earn free rentals. They also sell a selection of their games, I got Rockstar Table Tennis from them for less than £14.
AAARGH, SwapGame are evil. I used them for a couple of months, games were constantly either getting lost when they sent them to me, or lost when I returned them. And their turnaround times are pretty poor, if I sent a game back on Monday morning then their system didn’t record the game as received until Wednesday or Thursday, they didn’t bother dispatching the next game til Friday or Saturday, and it didn’t arrive for several days after that.
All these companies suffer from stock shortages too (especially for major titles) and it’s not just games rentals that have this problem, Blockbuster are the same. This sort of service is fairly useful if you want to explore some back-catalogue titles which aren’t rented very often, but that’s about it.
Really? Wow. I sent Moto GP back on Monday and Saints Row arrived this morning. I’ve only ever had one case of a lost game, and that was cleared up in 3 days.
Yes, they take no notice of how you’ve ordered your games, but I’m not too bothered as to which one turns up next anyway.
You really would have to be a cheap tart to join them.
