A black 360 on the way?
What better way to get the whole internet going wild than a good old rumour? Well, here’s a great rumour for you: is the 360 going to be released in black? GameSpot seem to think so.
Yes, that link doesn’t link to anything I’m writing about. But if you refresh the page enough times and keep looking in the advertisement part of the page, eventually an image from BestBuy is displayed, showing the mighty 360 in a cool-looking black.
A simple mistake in colouring (somehow)? Or a slip that Microsoft weren’t quite ready to announce yet? Well there is nothing over at bestbuy.com, which for some reason, when searching for “XBOX 360 black” produces Splinter Cell. So it could well be a simple mistake. However, how could anyone make such a mistake? There are millions of pictures of the system on the net, and to “accidentally” colour it black with no-one realising is just ridiculous. It would be a good time to release the new colour too, since in the run up to Christmas, this would make a great present for anyone with nice black furnishings (ehm, me).
So, what do you all reckon? Could a black 360 be coming to a retail shop near you? Who knows, but my one question remains: how could anyone accidentally colour the 360 black? Leave your thoughts as always in the comments section!

I’d like to have a black 360 with a green halo3 emblem on it. Also, someone needs to do a retro mod and put a 360 in an original xbox. Then send it to my house. Thx.
May I ask..why would you want a 360 in a original Xbox??? - Do you like having big ugly consoles. I have one, and for years i’ve been saying “It’s not that bad”….but now i know it is
The picture colours looked inverted or tinted. If you notice, the infra red wireless receiver above the mem card slots is white. On any colour console this part would still be black

For what it’s worth, I’ve got a black 360 via the ‘wonder’ of a vinyl skinning kit, because I *hate* white electronics.
black looks sweet,but for some reason i like the original white color……even tho it doesnt match a think in my black entertainment system
hre’s a crazy idea, maybe they are advertising video games in general and didnt want to show favorites with the common systems, so they just gave a hot item a painted it a different color. Notice there is no sign of get in the game with xbox, and the picture doesnt even have anything remotely close to xbox on the system. It’s just best buy advertising gaming. Thats just my crazy idea though
Well, the ad itself cycles through a couple different pictures including a PSP with speakers, a slim PS2, and a 360 controller (regular white). So it’s a general gaming ad but they weren’t being generic with the pictures.
To really piss me off, Microsoft would release a black xbox 360 with a built in hd-dvd drive, wifi, and bundled with a 60 gig hard-drive. what would said package be called? The Playstation 3 fightin-bundle.

Yes but that also voids your warranty and they wont even let you pay them to repair it. But a black Xbox 360 would be awesome!!! Too bad I already got a 360 :’(.

they had a special PGR3 black xbox out before, not sure how to order it, but I remember seeing a pic of it in a mag.

If anyone has seen the new Toshiba product catalogue there is a black console on one of the pages talking about HD and it looks a lot like a black 360
I’m sure someone posted this already but the black 360 is the one comin out sometime next year…it will have a new blade for direct tv, built in hd-dvd and a 60 gig hardrive

its inverted, 100% guarantee. i work with photo retouching, and its clear to me but anyone can see its inverted. just a stupid idea from the bestbuy head office

A while back either in EGM or OXM in the rumor section they mentioned that a black X360 with DirectTv and a bigger HDD was in the works. This could be it. I dont think its inverted, why does the HDD look normal color?

Black Xboxs do exist. Magazines have them, some websites have them and free journalists have them but they are for journalist only since they only play unsigned code. They don’t play retail games, just preview code hence how magazines can review games before they have been checked by Microsoft.
I’ve used them in the past both for interviews and for producing content and its no big deal, I don’t have one myself though so don’t ask. To be honest, once you’ve seen it in the flesh it’s nothing special and while i’ll agree with some of the posters above that I prefer black electronics to white or silver ones, you realise that Microsoft made the right decision with releasing it white only.

ahem…there IS going to be an xbox 360, black. it will be black. comes standard with 120 gigabyte hard drive, and i think the hd drive allready installed. it will retail for $599.99, and released into stores around april.
micro-boring is releasing it to compete with the rising dominance of the ps3. making every one that worked for microsoft, and was braggin on thier lower prices, look like a totall lying jerk. so you pay the same ammount of money, for the same functionality, only xbox charges to play on-line, and all the games suck really bad.
so have fun with that.
