X06: Next Splinter Cell exclusive

After showing an amazing trailer at Microsoft’s press conference in Barcelona of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Microsoft has another big anouncement to make on the next installment of the the Splinter Cell universe.

Ubisoft confirmed that Splinter Cell 5 will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows platforms. No releasedates were mentioned but since we almost get an annual upgrade, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was somewhere late 2007 or early 2008 for the game to hit the shelves. With this game being developed solely for next generation graphics we can expect an even better looking Sam Fisher.

Ubisoft confirmed that the next “Splinter Cell” title, the next instalment in the series after “Splinter Cell Double Agent,” will be a console-exclusive on Xbox 360, a testament to the ability of Xbox 360 to deliver a complete experience no other console can match.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent will be available October 17th for Xbox 360 and October 24th for the Xbox, PC, GameCube and PS2. A Wii and PS3 version will follow later this year.

This is good news…But I remember hearing Ubisoft say the same thing about SC1 back in the day. “Splinter Cell is an exclusive Xbox title. blah, blah, blah”. And then a few months later they say it will be released on the PS2 & GC…That it was just time exclusive. Hopefully they won’t pull that one again.

From what I’ve seen of Double-Agent, I’m not too excited about it. Why? Doesn’t seem much different than Chaos Theory…even in terms of graphics. I love the series although the stories are your run of the mill with nothing deep like Metal Gear. Sure hope this games suprises me and that the next game will convert non-Splinter Cell gamers. Ubisoft should have use that crowd cover in Assassins Creed in this game as well.

Dabombarz, man the graphics in this game will make you slap your momma–10X better than Chaos Theory!!!! Sam to solid snake, pick up the soap Bitch!!!!

Well the exclusivity is only on next gen machines atm, the older systems are getting it, and if you’ve been following the Wii game announcements SC has been announced for the platform so as Syphon says probably only a time limited exclusivity deal.
