1600 free Microsoft Points for Americans

If you live in the U.S.A., you may have noticed (it’s a little hard not to), some ads for the True dating service on this website. Who knew that, in addition to giving the guys something fun to look at, they’d net you a free 1600 Microsoft Points?

The promo is a combined effort between Xbox 360 Achiever and True.com. What you need to do is sign up for the dating service’s free trial here, and 360 Achiever will you send you a 1600-point card at the address you specify.

Go nuts, it works. Just cancel between your third and seventh day and you’ll be fine. The website practically holds your hand through how to successfully freeload.

Be careful, though, because they might need credit cards and it may not work completely. I haven’t done it myself, so I don’t guarantee it’ll work.

Free AIDS test with the purchase of Assassin’s Creed. Free condoms with the purchase of Bioshock. Free KY Jelly with the purchase of Viva Pinata.

Yes, this is just ripe for ideas…

Hmmm… let’s see, they all know we are 360 guys. And since we are 360 guys, we could care less about True dating. So in an effort to get some of the more intelligent members of our gender onto their meatmarket, they will chunk you a 1600 points card.

This is just weird on so many levels.

This really makes you pay if your a minute off cancelling.
Be careful people.
Just pay for the points. I bet that site stold a box of them from EBGames.

Comment by Chris on 2006-09-28 05:09:21 | Reply

stop being an idiot… the affiliate makes 35$ last i checked for each signup for the trial they use that and buy you a 1600 point card and ship it so they are making 10$ or so for each person that takes up the offer…

How are you a “minute off of cancelling” you have 7 days to cancel… your telling me you wait till the last minute of the 7th day to try to cancel if so you deserve to have to pay for it!

True.com is not so cool with married people signing up - its kinda breach of the terms of service, so be caureful with that.

And by the way, when you call to cancel they’ll try to offer you a free month to not cancel. Just tell them you’ve met someone recently and have a date and it will be a quick conversation :)

True.com did do as samual said, but i politely declined.

Guess i’ll wait and see.

They make you THINK you’ll have them in like a week but I waited THREE weeks… I cancelled my trial within the first week so I never got billed (and you CAN cancel through the website- you don’t have to call them)… but yea…you just have to wait it out … I almost forgot about it and then today I finally got the fucking email

I cancel my trial so i wasn’t charged wondering tho when do i get my points

got my confirmation email from xbox 360 achiever the day i signed up. i checked their site yesterday and they said that this past monday (may 7) they received notice that they’d be getting a new shipment of cards in by mid-week. they also said they’ll be emailing the codes on the cards. finally, i just canceled the trial today. no hassle — just said i was no longer interested. when the woman asked more i just repeated myself. i’ll write back when i get my code.

my third day rolled around and i got an email (was sent to my spam box so check there if you dont get one in your inbox) saying that my points will be shipped in 10-14 days at the latest but probably within a week - and now they can send the code to you via email too, which im gonna do. legit!

I never got an email period i think it just spam

Comment by anthony on 2007-05-13 00:28:44 | Reply

BIG TIP!:
you DO NOT have to give credit card info for the trial
when they ask for the credit card info quickly hit HOME and it will take you there and they will stop asking about your credit card info
i did that and i am now awaiting my ms points

Comment by steve0 on 2007-05-14 16:47:00 | Reply

It’s Works.
Yeah I am always skeptical on any of the offers but usually there not a scam there just “hoping” you will forget to cancel (which you would be shocked to find out just how many people forget and they charge that first month). But I signed up got my confirmation, cancelled on day 5 and got my point a week later. They offer the card number online so you don’t have to wait for shipping. Its worth it.

I never got it i waited for 6 days and never got one any suggestions.

Comment by fezir on 2007-05-14 20:43:47 | Reply

i haven’t got one yet either. i would just be patient. it’s free, it’ll get there when it gets there.

How do you do the blockbuster trial for free? I signed up, put a few movies on the list, and then printed the free coupon and plan to go and rent a easy 1000 gs game this weekend. But when do I cancel to not pay anything for the Free Trail? Is it a 30 day trial?

Comment by Dallas on 2007-05-23 07:41:46 | Reply

The trial period lasts only a few days after you sign up; you should be able to see your billing date in your account information. I didn’t see it in time and was charged $10.

About that free coupon you printed, was that for a free rental or for the Microsoft game points? Because I haven’t received the points or any free rentals and I signed up on the 17th.

Comment by uKnow on 2007-05-23 15:25:24 | Reply

no, the coupon I’m talking about is the blockbuster coupon for a free game rental at the store. I like blockbuster online, I would pay for it if they had games with it. But will watch the date of it and cancel in time, I hope.

Just got my points!!! I can’t believe this actually worked.

When you call to cancel they will tell you that you get 30 days free. Just tell ‘em ‘no thanks’ and you’ll be done with it!

This is not a scam, but a partnership to bring traffic to the true website. Like mail-in rebates, they count on people who will fail to cancel. Enjoy!

So, guys, there you have it, no scam, and I didn’t even pay the $10.92 for the trail period to Blockbuster, the refunded me after I emailed them saying I thought it was free, the key is to email them before they ship your first movies. All and all I got 3 movies rented free, a game rental (from the online coupon you can print off), and 1600 ms points. So, the lesson of the story is, don’t cry SCAM. Just watch your email closely.

Comment by Josh on 2007-06-14 23:45:56 | Reply

No bullshit with the Blockbuster one. I just got my points via email last night. It took just over a week.
