LEGO Star Wars II gets new characters

In what was an admittedly dissapointing end to X06 in terms of content released on day 10, there is a little light (saber) at the end. The Major has announced new characters are now available for 200 MS Points.

While this is all well and good for those enjoying the game, stepping back and analysing this makes for some dissapointment. You see, if you had gotten the game on your original Xbox, these characters are automatically unlocked, for free, should you still have the original version on your Hard Drive. I appreciate that the game is now in High Definition, and yes it costs less than most games, but I would still feel aggrieved should I own the game and want the characters.

But I’m sure there are others out there who will jump at the chance to get the extra characters, and you can as they are on the Marketplace now. And if you’re not sure about getting the game, you can now download the demo.

Give me free downloads or else!

Thanks to LinkinPrime for the heads up!

$2.50, or buying and completing again a game you (or a family member) already own on another console? Uh-huh, that’s what I thought. I’ll take the $2.50 and a large order of fries.

I guess that’s only $2.50. I may buy it just for the hell of it. I am pretty happy with just running around with Han Solo and Darth Vader now.

Regular Xbox has them for free?! Unfortunately micro transactions like these are the immediate future of online gaming. No more unlockables by achievement.
They get enough of my money when I buy a game and I pay a monthly fee to play online. I feel that I should get a complete game.
This is just the beginning. We will see more unfinished games, and then downloadable content for the “extra” missions, etc.

The thing is these 50 characters really add nothing to the game. You can just run around with them during free play. They are absolutely not necessary to play the game.

Also, the reason they are free on the Xbox 1 version is because LEGO Star Wars 1 was on that console. The characters you unlocked in that version are the ones you get unlocked for free. Since part 1 wasn’t on the 360, they couldn’t do this. Granted they could have just given them to you, but they decided to make a buck off something you have to buy.

Don’t like it, then don’t buy it.

“I feel that I should get a complete game”

Um… you DID get a complete game. If you want the character models from the previous version as an OPTION. No one is forcing your to buy these and they are not needed to play the COMPLETE game.

I am sick of all these people complaining about downloadable content that costs a few dollars but that is completely OPTIONAL.

Do like it? Don’t buy it and don’t bitch.

Can’t you save your LSW1 file on your 360 HDD and upload from there?

Horrible, shitty, crap game.
I had to let that out, really - how on earth do you play through it?

Here’s the thing noone seems to notice. You can have these characters for $2.50, or complete the old game…..but the old game costs $20. So you’re saving $17.50. Quit complaining about it already!

But that’s exactly what I said…

ppl just like the game cause its star wars….but i found it slow and boring….i might rent it though…hahaha

Actually, is it required to buy these characters to get 100% completion of the missions? Because that would truly suck.

Comment by lego on 2006-09-30 00:55:48 | Reply

no!! i have 100% on the game and haven’t got this

I was merely pointing out that they are charging for something original Xbox players get free. I know they are optional, but some people didn’t know they get it free. I personally probably wouldn’t pay it, simply because they don’t add to the game (as mentioned). But I don’t have the game yet so meh.

It adds to the game if you’re a Star Wars nerd, though :P

Lol yeah that’s a fair point. I’m not overly bothered about Star Wars so I suppose I wouldn’t be as interested in it.

to be fair though they only cost a few pounds, compared to what you paid for the original game,so for those who didnt get the first one its a money saver!

I thought they should be unlocked if you had a save from the xbox version on your 360 for the 360 version. That way would have been inline with the other consoles and wouldn’t have been that hard. Main reason to buy them is if you want to do some of the free plays early and need a Dark Jedi character.

I’m still pissed that it’s only 29.99 for the PC.. I do have a PC that would run it but I like to get 360 games, so I’ve doubled my price right from the beginning…

Comment by chris on 2006-10-01 14:00:47 | Reply

i only paid £29.99 for the game on the 360 from play.com
