Play Gears of War on the 4th of October
That’s right. Microsoft have teamed up with New Line Cinema to bring you Gears of War and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, early. But sadly you can only participate if you live in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago or San Francisco.
For your chance to win, simply fill in all the details here, then print out your ticket and take it to the event. But apparently even if you get there early, your ticket doesn’t guarantee you entry. Very strange, but nonetheless, exciting if you live in any of the listed cities!
And not only do you get to play the game before anyone else, you also get to see the movie before anyone else too! It sounds like a great day if you get selected, shame I’m a UK resident really! But wait, Steve has more to say:
And for those of you that don’t live in those 4 cities, I’m being told that you should check back at the Texas Chain Saw movie website for future events.
So maybe us Europeans will get a chance to play the game early after all. If I’m honest, I couldn’t care less about the movie, I just would love to try the game before I buy! So lets hope Microsoft and New Line Cinema bring this to somewhere nearer Europe. I’m willing to fly to any city, especially if it’s in the UK!
If you get selected, let us know how it goes over in the forums; we would love to hear from you if you made it.
Many thanks to Steve519 for submitting!

I think this is f*cked up for most of the people. They said not to bring a playable version out until the game was out. Somehow they seem to have crossed the line i think this is bullying around with other fans of this game. What i think is that they are now overhyping the game. Sure it will be a hit for microsofts sales for the xbox360 but if no event will take place for us europeans then they screud us again. They gotta stop spreading the lies around “not being able to play until emergence day”. This counts for epic aswell as microsoft shame on you people!!!
You have to remember that MS are located in the US, they are a US company and the US is their biggest audience. Of course they are going to do these things. You can’t get pissed over it; theres no point. You will still get the game, just look forward to that
its plublicty you cant blame them, and yes its a huge game and people are gonna love the shit out of this idea… who knows maybe some euro stuff will get planed… and what they said was NO DEMO BEFORE EMERGENCE DAY… they never said no playing… at x06 their was playing well atleast some lol
Oh my god, there is going to be a sequel? Oh shit, please - NO ONE watch this. Texas Chainsaw Massacre FTL.
the remake was ok
actually its a prequel.
Even…worse.

LoL GoW can do that to people, WTF has GoW got with TCM???
¬_¬
kinda makes sense kobe…
Chainsaw some Locusts… then watch a movie about some crazy chainsaw people hehe
Yuh I guess
Hell Yeah!
Now I am so glad that I live in Chicago now, because a few hours ago I was complaining that there was nothing to do in Chicago.
I just printed the passes and I am about to shit myself.
I signed up for it an everything, but is the screening free or do we have to pay for it?
how about a playable demo? if they have time to organize all these bullshit events surely they have time to make a 10 minute demo or 1 map MP demo or something.
With so much hype put into this game I don’t think they would risk any negative publicity before the game is realesed. Because even if the game sucks (which I don’t think it will) They will still sale a ton of copies on the first day because of the hype
Actually, if you watched all the GoW Videos *very* observant and didn’t fokus on the character/action you probably noticed that it suffers from the exact same problems like all the other “big” titles
popup nightmares … but in GoW it’s not small objects, no, it’s entire large buildings and level geometry that pop in. It’s easy to spot in one of the recent videos from x06 where cliffyb demonstrates moving around and going from cover to cover. At some point you can see a pretty large building popping right in behind a damaged wall. You may also have noticed that they avoided to show wider, open areas in all those demos. Not a good sign either I think. I really wonder why so many games have the very same problems. Capcom did show with DR that you can avoid them for the most part (and that you can mess up gameplay quite a lot, no matter how good your engine is). So I’m kinda hoping for Lost Planet to be a decent action game at least. Not having my hopes up too much for GoW. I fear it’ll be quite the letdown but that’s just me of course and my very personal opinion.
With that beeing said, yes it’s unlikely (and confirmed a while ago already) that there will be no playable demo for GoW before the release and they probably won’t show off anything they can’t control entirely. Meaning you probably get to play parts of the game with tight areas and not much going on just to maintain high framerates, avoid popups etc.
Releasing a demo could only lead to negative feedback considering all the hype. A demo could not possibly do *anything* positive for the sales of GoW and therefore there won’t be a demo until all the hype is over, the initial production lot is sold out and GoW is just another “recent” title. That’s when you will probably see a demo (guessing 2 months after release, maybe a bit earlier).
Not like we haven’t seen all this before.

Voyager2k your full of sh!t!!! I’am playing the finished version of the game right now there are no pop-ups no jaggies no pop-ins no slow down-it’s all gravy!!!! Go back under your bridge!!!!
How are you playing a finished copy of GOW?
Well I guess it’s because he is putting his name down as Cliffy B, I would question if this is the man himself though.
Or an evil imposter!
