Gears of War stuff happening in 48 hours but not a demo
Epic launched some new viral marketing Flash thingy, as if Gears hasn’t gotten enough attention already. The Gears fans who subscribed to the official Gears of War newsletter got an e-mail linking to this bit on the official Gears site. The site indicated that we’d see something within 48 hours or something like that. Kotaku speculated that we’d might see a demo but Mark Reign debunked that rumor on the Gears forum.

Well that’s it, we’re ending this one on a down note, sorry for the bad news. Gears of War is set for November 12th in the US and November 17th in Europe.

Seriously, the more they do shit like this, the less I want to play this game because I am sick of this “marketing strategy”. Remember when a game just “came out”?

What bad note, kotaku and xboxic need to stop spreading rumors, AS WAS STATED MONTHS AGO! NO DEMO WILL BE RELEASED PRIOR TO RETAIL GAME!
What rumors do we need to stop spreading? I never said there would be a demo. When I started this post it was criticizing Kotaku for the demo bullshit with a link to Mark Reign’s statements on how there wouldn’t be a demo. We posted about it. Then I found Mark’s denial on this specific rumor and I pulled the post after it was published for less than a minute. We’d never claim that we’d see a Gears demo without a goddamn reliable source.

Those flash movies are pretty neatly done actually. Kudos to whoever made those. Kinda hoping there will be a dvd release of all the animated hype of this game so you can just pop that one in and drool about what GoW could have been in your imagination if all the hype came true

So today a friend emailed me and asked if, this close to release, the hypes for this game he heard about a long time ago … what was it again … ah yes, “Gears of War” .. . if the hypes were already going or just starting.
I replied “I fear they only just started”.
I agree with Dan, as hyped up as this game is I sure hope it can live up to the hype becuase if it doesn’t, could be the biggest disappointment in Microsoft history….
The reviews/hands-on say the game is great. If you’re disappointed, it’s your own dumb-fault for over-expecting. You can only look forward to a game so much without getting disappointed by the outcome. Look at Halo 2; too many people expected TOO MUCH from the game, and thus made it appear worse than it is with the backlash it caused.
Of course Mark Reign is going to deny it being a demo even if it WAS, since it’s not formally announced. It’s been rumoured for quite sometime the game is almost complete. Although, I still severely doubt anything decent will come from this.

1) No where, does anyone or anything say any announcements will be made from this. I’m saying that there won’t be, I’m just saying - Don’t get your hopes up.
