Oblivion to get extra content on all platforms
We already knew that Oblivion would be coming to the PS3, but it was revealed earlier this week that Bethesda have been working on added missions for the PS3 version, something that was not made immediately obvious. But after an interview with IGN, Todd Howard, Executive Producer of Oblivion, confirmed we would all get to see the special pack.

And no, it isn’t the expansion pack rumoured earlier in the year either. It is in fact called ‘Knight of the Nine’, and it will add 10-20 hours extra gameplay to the already very long game.
IGN: Will the Knights of the Nine quests eventually become available for X360 and PC players of Oblivion, or are they exclusively PS3’s?
Howard: We always aim to have all our content available across all platforms, so that is our goal.
This is good news to those who aren’t getting a PS3, as you now know that you won’t be left out from the exciting stuff. If you are still playing the game by then, it should be good, because it won’t matter where you are in the game, unlike other downloadable content.
IGN: Are all of the add-ons going to ship with it or will they still be extra?
Howard: The downloadable content is actually designed to work with a game that is in-progress and doesn’t work as well with a new game. So instead we focused on Knights of the Nine as the new stuff to add to Oblivion that would work well no matter where you are in the game. Downloadable content is something we’d like to support on PS3, but right now that’s really in Sony’s hands.
There is a lot of interesting information in the interview. The producer comes across as a little blunt at some of the answers he gives, but it is nice to know, as an avid 360 gamer, that we won’t be missing out on anything.
IGN: Are you able to use the hard drive on the PS3 to make the world stream better?
Howard: We use it pretty much the same way we use the 360 hard-drive.
So the game will be no better or no worse than the one on the 360 from the sounds of it, apart from a few graphical updates. But that is to be expected since Bethesda have had time to work on that since then.

The question becomes how much does the content tipped in the PS3 cost a 360 user?
I mean, if we paid 60 for this title already, is the new content going to run cheaper for us? If the game goes the the PS3 for $60, what exactly do you do to keep it fair?
Fair? Who said anything about fair? Developers/publsihers only care about money. 360 users will have to pay for it, that’s the cost of being priveledged, since we got it first. I wouldn’t worry, will anyone be playing this come March?
we’ll pay for it but then again the games been out for a year this content is new to us we dont really need to get it its like buying an expansion for the game… its not oblivions fault that the ps3 took an extra year and they had time to fiddle new stuff for its version
What wud be cool is if they released a patch to upgrade the graphics on the 360 version to even it out even more lol
hey content is content, they bring it i’ll play it (if the price it right of course) plain and simple
F**k the B$3 !!! And to be honest oblivion is not gonna get any play time with games like Splinter Cell, FEAR, Rainbow Six, COD 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and of course Gears Of War coming out. The only way I’m going to download this new content is if its free and even then I probably won’t play it.
Giggle. Sony loses another exclusive.
Fuck you Sony haters.
Fuck you Microsoft haters.
Fuck you Nintendo haters.
Fuck you fanboys.
Fuck you.
when will it be out u rekon the content?
How are people not bored stupid by this game already?
I wonder if devs can add achievements in DLC?
We know they can, look at Kameo.
So kameo has over 1000 available gs points?
No - any new achivements added are all 0 points. 1000 is the limit for a disk based title. 200 for arcade titles.
I got the costume “achivement” when I downloaded the contest winner pack for Kaemo and the achivement was ZERO points.
Achivements can be put into a game pretty much at any time. Just what people want from it is another story.
they also added some for the PGR3 updates and DLCs
i dunno if any non MGS game has added any though…
Oblivion is hardly boring, if anything its the most content rich game out there.
fuck you oblivion haters.
And my two cents - I still play the game. I didn’t blaze through it like some of other friends have. I have been chugging along, and I have the 7 DLCs from XBL already.
This is one of these games that in three years from now, I probably still will not have unlocked everything from it. And the graphics are good enough so that in that three years time I will not sour on them.
I bet you do
Possible, but I think that this is my “WOW” game. Something I will play because the game itself draws me in.
I could be wrong, but I hope not!!!!
PC version is still the best in every possible way. The FlopBox GhettoPC 360 version is a brutal piece of crap. No Mods = JOKE
Oh shut up you slavering whelp.
I agree with SidearmS. This game will still be moving along nicely in 3 years. Mods help keep it alive.
PCTESIVFTW!
Simply said, I will get everything that you X-Boxers have to pay for. Morrowind’s mods were free, and if this expansion pack is like the DLC’s they’ve been releasing, I’ll be downloading it for free. =D However, if it’s actually a REAL expansion pack and not some piss weak DLC with no new content, I’ll pay for it. :p
Consoles are for idiots who can’t build a decent computer, anyone who can’t build a computer is a moron, it’s little more complicated than lego. :p
