Buy your cheats for Tiger Woods ‘07

After we heard about the horror called consumables, EA comes with something new and equally evil: purchasable cheat codes. You can also obtain these codes by playing the game normally, but purchasing them is the easier yet more expensive way.

The cheats will set you back between 200 and 300 MS Points. It’s quite expensive, but people who invest lots of time would perhaps feel cheated (pun intended) if someone bought the codes for maybe less than a buck. The question whether this affects your Gamerscore remains unanswered unfortunately. Purchasing cheats isn’t entirely new according to MCV. Codemasters previously allowed gamers to purchase cheat codes via a premium rate telephone number. But unfortunately purchasing cheats via Xbox Live is even easier than picking up the phone.

  • Unlock Golfer - 200 points
  • Pro Shop - 300 points -
  • Maxed out Player - 200 points
  • Sunday Tigr - 240 points
  • Unlock Courses - 200 points

Tell us what you think about it, is this wrong?

No, I think it’s a good idea. That way it might make the cheaters not cheat, meaning everyone has earnt the unlocked things. I applaud EA on this one.

I’m totally not surprised that of all publishers it’s EA who found this way of ripping off gamers some more. EA should be banned from being able to use microtransactions in their games.

TRUE!!! God that sucks…
Are we going to have to buy “shorter loading times” soon?

I applaud EA for making damn sure I won’t buy their games.

I applaud you for doing that and I hope more people will follow. 1UP said it best when the said this:

The only way to tell companies like EA these aren’t wanted is by not buying them. Truly, denying them access to your credit card is the loudest, easiest way to send a message, rather than shouting anonymously on the message boards. Paying a couple dollars for access to all courses or a juiced-up player sure is certainly easier than earning them the old-fashioned way, but why charge for it, when cheat menus used to be standard?

yes the rest of us will probably applaud not playing you

You shouldn’t be mad at EA. You should be mad at the idiots that spend money on stuff like this. If people buy the cheats, then EA and other companies will offer them.

if EA did not offer it we would not have this problem

This is total bullshit. Whoever buys this is retarded. Just earn the cheats. It’s not that hard. That’s almost $15 wasted for a couple of cheats. Come on EA quit being little bitches.

The Sunday Tiger is the only thing worth picking up.

I guess EA believed they were doing a service to real life golfers that may purchase Tiger Woods. I mean, I doubt they’d want to play the game for hours to unlock a course or a certain player.

Me? I’ll just save the money for other games.

Or just play the game and unlock the cheats for free? I prefer that one.

Sucks more than a sucky thing

I totally agree to buying unlockables because I use to moan and moan that with Tigerwoods 06 the online system wasn’t fair because my own usercreated profile had crap stats, clubs and stuff - more times than not I would be placed in quick match with a bloody expert. I have downloaded these cheat things because I like to play a nice relaxing game of xbox360 golf, not some frustrating game where my club only shoots as far as my penis!

Who cares, you’re an idiot if you pay for an EA Sports game.

LMA Manager 2007 does the same thing, there’s a bit in the instruction manual which tells you to ring a £1 a minute number if you want cheat codes

yuh paying for cheats is as old as the hills Codemasters have run a premium rate cheats line since 1989.

Would always be EA that would come out with this first.

So they not have some strategy shit costing a couple of hundred points on the marketplace right now underneath the “FREE” Saints Row strategy guides?

For fuck sake EA! Startegy guides! Get a fucking grip!

At the end of the day EA is a company out to make money, as i run a company if some idiot would be happy to pay me for something they could do for a little effort on their own then i wouldn’t say, HEY don’t pay me you can do that by yourself with a little effort, i would damn well take their money and be laughing behind their back. Wake up people this is the way of business and consoles are no different.

consumables,and EA suck bigtime

Pay for cheats? Nahh!

This…not so bad. Content with a time limit or limited use that would have to be re-purchased…now that would suck.

And for those of us who have a 360 but don’t have access to online gaming? what do we do?

Play the game and be rewarded like how every other game has ever worked.
