Reminder: Xbox Live is down
Please stop dismantling your Xbox 360’s and your home networks. Your setup is fine but as we reported earlier, Xbox Live, Xbox.com and the Xbox forums are unavailable due to maintenance. Whilst Microsoft themselves were kind enough to offer a list of ‘Top Ten Things to Do on October 17th‘, we thought we’d add a list of Top Ten Xboxic Things to Do on October 17th!
- Whilst the Xbox forums may be unavailable, ours are as lively as ever. Head over to Xboxic’s Forum and take a moment or two to join the community.
- If you find yourself constantly hungry for Xbox news and find that Xboxic is truly the place to get it, why not take a moment to subscribe to our RSS Feed?
- Although the Xboxic Crew pride ourselves at finding news first, there may be the odd occasion where some of you fabulous readers beat us to it! Should that be the case, feel free to submit news to us. Do be aware that we may not post everything we receive, but don’t be put off by that.
- Be random. Do your random task of the day, visit a random page on the Xboxic Wiki and who knows, you may learn something you never knew before.
- Get to know the Xboxic Crew. Check out the crew pages and marvel at our Gamerscores. Be sure to ridicule the lowest scorers in our forums too!

I hope its something big, like a webbrowser. Just like the ps3. but I think it will be something small like reading picture and voice messages on xbox.com (what DSK UK said).
It won’t be a web browser, that, I reckon, would need the dash update. Also, I don’t fancy my 360 getting viruses left right and centre.
ITS NOT A DASH UPDATE ITS A LIVE UPDATE… So no no new pretty apps or anything like that.
it could be preping for a web browser…the web pages would have to go through live in order to make it secure, etc
So, virusmakers would be able to do what the “hackers” have been trying to do, run un-signed code on the 360, just because of a web browser?
i think it’s gonna be the marketplace stuff…..maybe you download history will come under “My Xbox”..or maybe the whole web based marketplace on xbox.com..
well, we’ll find out later what kool stuff we get!!
What ever it is, it should be worth the wait. Im suprised how I once hated the 360 (because I wasnt an original XBOX fan) and now Its my baby lol. Sigh…I guess I cant be a spy in SCDA for the day
The screenshot says that achievements can still be earned, and they’ll be uploaded once the service is online again. That’s good news.
Achievements can be earned - but any earned offline do not have a date that you earned it listed unless you were online at the time. Not a biggie — but it can be a bummer when looking back months later.
I personally don’t think the update will offer much. I think it’s more of a preperation thing for the autumn dash update. That can’t be too long away now and I think they’re getting things ready for the new features added from that.
my guys is that it will come out in about a month…prob on the day of the PS3 release for the US, or half way between the PS3 and Wii release

Just re-assembled the box, but seem to have seven screws and a microchip left over.
this is probably a prep for the christmas dashboard upgrade… i mean they have to prep the system to handle clans and guilds as far as i’ve heard… but i’m sitll interested to see what the downtime is for afterwards… not to mention what the christmas dashboard upgrade brings with it…

I’m still very clueless to what there doing because they can put demo’s & updates etc up without having xbox live go down so it has to be something very big thats happening.
Yep, its half 10 in the UK now. Still no life! I was hoping i could see something cool before i went into college.
