Xbox Live is back, let the world rejoice!
As reported earlier, Xbox Live was unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. It’s now our pleasure to report that Xbox Live is back and with it Lumines Live is now available for your downloading pleasure.
Update: Xbox.com is back as well but you can’t sign in yet.
Those of you dashing to Xbox.com to see it before you believe it may find yourselves a little confused. Although Xbox Live is restored and fully functional, Xbox.com and the Xbox.com Forums aren’t yet available. Major Nelson was kind enough to tell us why: I have just been informed that the scheduled maintenance is now complete, and Xbox Live is now back in business. They are still finishing up some work on Xbox.com and the forums, so it will be a bit longer until those are ready.
Please make your way back to your 360’s in an orderly fashion. Anybody found jumping over furniture and hurdling family members may be at risk of injury. Xboxic can take no responsibility for accidents caused by bringing news of Xbox Live’s return.

First you all bitch about lagging in games and other stuff like that.
So, they do some server maintainable and add features to xbox.com and everything, and you guys bitch that you can’t connect to marketplace temporarily, or can’t sign in to xbox.com
CALM DOWN, do you just live to complain? I was welcoming this maintenance as hopefully it’ll address lag issues in many games and other server updates that’ll help XBL performance alot, even though it is not *seen* by us.
If you guys knew anything and read the post that Xbox made last week about it going down yesterday, you would’ve KNOWN not to expect anything visible on the 360 because it wasn’t a dash update.

Lumines is availible for 1200mp , i will say that was not worthy of a 24 hour xbox live offline period .. but than again what do i know…
they didnt go offline for 24hrs to put lumines on arcade!!

I read a lot of things are not going as planned. Marketplace doesn’t work, you’re getting signed out of live when you play arcade games and xbox.com is still not online.

I curious why Microsoft has to pull down XBL to do these upgrades … I work in Big IT and we design systems so that, 99.999%, of the time we can upgrade, do maintenance, and introduce new functionality without have to shut the entire system down.
I guess the ‘why’ of my question is already answered: “because that’s how they designed it.”. So the predecessor “why” is “why *didn’t* they design it so that they can do upgrades/maintenance without sufferring (upon us poor happless gamers) downtime” ???

I read somewhere it was to do with repliction across the server farms. If you apply to one server it’ll automatically spread to the others which will probably screw things up for people. Simplist option I guess was to take the whole system offline, do all the work, then put it back up.

Morons, they never said it was down for a dashboard update, they said it was down for maintenence. I am betting it was so they could support more users and more content on the servers, cause when they get full, like during x06, everything works really bad, I think it is pretty full, and with the holiday coming there will only be more. But that is just my theory.

After a few attempts I was able to connect to Live but the marketplace gives me the 8015000a error. No Lumines for me, hopefully when I get off work Live will work.
Live is up, but it works sometimes. I have the same error as u got. So we have to wait. I’m only the one that can’t wait for Lumines

Yes I’ve played it loads. The Live Multiplayer goes really quickly and theres a bar that shoots left and right holding you up if you’re currently losing. The games fun, you earn different skins as you go along the levels.

Marketplace is still a no go for me, and while playing Geo Wars this morning I was signed out of Xbox live and get the dreaded 8015000a error when I try signing back in.
We’re now a full 8 hours past when things were supposed to be back up and running. This sucks.

ok, we didn’t expect a dash update, but that bullsh!t has all the earmarks of inflated expectation. it is their fault. they told us we could expect something after they boned us for a day, and a day later, most of us are still getting boned. i am still paying for two or three gold accounts i CAN’T cancel. i am paying enough money not to get jerked around.

according to guys on gamefaqs it’s a UK problem mainly and someone phoned the UK customer service and got told it should be back up by midnight for the UK customers. sucks.

Actually its not just a UK problem. I live in new york and it has been buggy all morning. I can’t get into the marketplace and everytime I get into a game (arcade or 360 game) it disconnects me from live.
Im in the UK and ive been signed in to Live since 11am this morning and its now 4pm - ive not had any problems, Im just wanting to see what improvements have been made to MyXbox area on the website…

well until you have spoken to every single gamer in the UK!!…..if you have read any earlier posts on http://www.xboxic.com/news/1812 then you will see other people in the UK posting about Lumines this morning and knowing its more than a 50mb file. Fact is - if you and a few others you might know that have not been able to get online until after 1.30pm then its probably just tough luck. I have more interesting things i could have lied about other than downloading Lumines at 11am

I just had some success. I could download the trial version of Lunines Live!, but when I tried to add points to buy it, I got a connection error. It looks like it’s slowly coming about.

The easiest way to check the status of live is to go to Major’s page. You CAN NOT see his gamertag card right now, so you know XBL is not up.
When you see his gamertag card, then you will know services are back.

yea thats a fuckin rip i paid for lumines also and it disconnects me and you can only play the trial for arcade games when offline
If you have had your console replaced, you must be signed into Live in order to validate that the games had been purchased on your console. If you contact support, they have a workaround in order to get the games to work offline again.
I’m having something weird happen. All 16 of my 360 games are calling for an update. When I go to update them, the update fails and I get signed out of LIVE.
and I know your going to say “duh.. because LIVE is down”
however…I started having these issues on Monday afternoon.. before the downtime.
