Nah, I can’t be bothered to travel 3 hours to play I get in a couple of weeks. Not worth it if nothing else is on offer in my opinion. If it were in a foreign country, I’d go because I’d take a holiday, but B’ham just isn’t the same!

I’m not sure it’s just the Americans (although they probably are the worst), I’ve heard many Europeans make the same mistake when visiting the UK. A Dutch colleague of mine visited our office in Aberdeen (Scotland) and proceeded to tell everyone how much he liked visiting England. He was very popular as you can imagine.

your actually right in thinking that the americans think England is the UK and forget the 3 other countries.
Ive been to the USA a few times and several different cities. Take one example, our flags. They fly th union jack as the english flag, its almost impossible to find a St Georges cross. But they fly the Saltire (St andrews cross) for scotland. Its nice to see this, but its really infuriating when they refer to Britain as just really England

My funniest XBL experience was on Pro Evo 5.

Was playing against this guy from London, and my username is Japanese (despite the fact I’m not) and for the entire game he was making racial slurs against me, thinking I couldn’t understand: things like “Chelsea rule you g**k bastard” and stuff like that.

I horsed him 3-0 (going on 10-0, frankly) and at the end of the game, in the middle of another barrage of racist slurry, I just said, calmly, “thanks for the game, mate.”

You could have heard a pin drop

Bah! i wouldn’t travel 80miles (London is the closest one to me) to test a few games, it would cost me the price of a game to travel and pay the ridiculous parking in London. I think i’ll save my money for a game. I feel sorry for the rest of the UK i.e.Wales, Ireland and Scotland it would cost them the price of 2 games or more to get the poxy events. Plus there will probaly be demo’s of said game’s on XBL and most decent game shops will let you test the wheel and camera if you really wanted to anyway.

We’re not.

90% of the time, in American media whether it be tv, cinema, etc, in their press, even the average man on the street, they will call the UK “England”

I was in Arizona recently, wearing my kilt, and got asked, variously, if I was from Sweden, Russia and, at one point, France.

There were people who didn’t even know where Scotland was. Which saddened me greatly.

This always happens - anything from events like this to band tours. A “UK tour” most often means London, Manchester and Birmingham/Newcastle/Liverpool - which is baffling considering, how big, for example, Glasgow is in comparison to any of the cities on this ‘tour’ except London.

Constantly shafted if you don’t live in Englandshire.

Never been a UK tour in its life.

So first they don’t include the UK first, then when they do they still manage to exclude people in the UK.
Why is it Americans think that England is the UK anyway? Ooops I forgot it because they have no appreciation of anything outside of the US of A.
