100 GB hard drive and 256 MB memory card will be available in March [Updated]
We knew a 256 MB memory card was coming our way, we even saw one hanging across Major Nelson’s neck during the Leipzig Games Convention, but the hard drive remained a bit of a mystery until now. After Microsoft denied rumors back in May, it seems a 100 GB hard drive will be coming our way after all.
This rather impressive increase in hard drive space was announced at X’06 in Korea, where Game Inside made a couple of pictures. Both the memory card and the hard drive are supposed to be made available upcoming March although we can’t really tell if this will be a worldwide release. Presumably not since Xbox Live Vision was released a little later in Europe and Asia.
Update: The hard drive rumor turned out to be false.
The 20 GB hard drive contains about 7 GB of cached stuff, backwards compatibily and some more things you can’t access. It’s quite possible that the new hard drive will contain these same 7 GB which means the free space on your hard drive won’t be 5 times as much but an impressive 7 times!

It’s gonna be tedious redownloading everything!
It may just make it worth the $20 purchase to get the data transfer kit for the current HD, and move all that stuff over manually instead of trying to DL it all from XBL… Then again, I doubt I’ll be getting rid of my old 20gb HD, so I can always slap that fucker back in if I want access to that stuff… Downloading the arcade games to the new HD won’t be a big deal anyhow, and that’s what I access most commonly.
hm this will be way over priced for the 100gb.. $99 for 20gb. =/ lolz yeah

what about transfereing gamertags and such? i dont want a new profile
You don’t have to, but you’ll have to redownload all your arcade games and you’ll lose most savegames. I believe Call of Duty miracly creates new savegames based on your achievements
what about downloaded content such as GRAW chapter 2?
You’ll have to redownload it, but the information that you’ve paid for it is stored in your gamertag.
get a cheap memory card and just copy everything over, or backup the image of your HDD to your pc with an appropriate device.
If you get a datel XSATA, you’ll be able to transfer all the gamesaves and everything. Maybe Microsoft will release a 1st party accessory to do that!
This is in Korea, so maybe we’ll get it even earlier than March? I don’t think they get everything first.. lol
Very unlikely Microsoft will release such an accessory, I think you’ll have to go with the memory card solution.

go for it, all you need is a screwdriver and $400+ for a compatible 160Gb perpendicular laptop drive and you’ll be sorted.

The mem. unit certainly does. As the text is facing in a complete different direction to what the background is facing.

Isn’t it fake? Take a look at the memory card picture, 256 is clearly added on the top of the image. And as a wise guy mentioned before, it says 64MB at the bottom. ROFL
i think that the new hard drive should come with a port tht allows the 20g hard drive to attatch to it. That way we could transfer all of our data easily. Although it will never happen
