Def Jam: Icon footage

When EA announced their next-gen sequel to their Def Jam franchise yesterday we were all a bit puzzled when they said that the stages we’re going to move to the beat of the music. Luckily Gamevideos.com uploaded some off screen footage of the PS3 version of the game to give us an impression of what that’s going to look like. Checkout the ‘Guided Tour‘ and ‘Brawl‘ trailers.

The ‘Guided Tour’ trailer.

EA Chicago is delivering star-stunning action and bone breaking beats as players live out the life of a hip hop mogul, going from rags to riches. Incorporating hip-hop culture into every aspect of the game, DEF JAM: ICON will deliver the intensity of a no-holds-barred street fight but with style and rhythm. Music will effect how players fight in each venue and environmental interactions and hazards will become a key strategy to staying alive.

Please note that the game still is in an early stage of development, the framerate is a bit choppy and the animations clearly aren’t finished yet. It’s highly likely that they fix that stuff before the game gets released (on Xbox 360 and PS3) in the 4th quarter of 2007.

Love the way the background freaks when you do a massive hit :)

Fighting motions are great but character graphics in general is not that good for a fighting game, looks more like characters from a third person action game. By the end of 2007 it won’t look that impressive I think…
