Buy two games and get the third free at Toys ‘R’ Us
Fall is upon us, and for gamers that means one thing: publishers are releasing a flood of new games that dig into the most remote grooves of our wallets for our money. Toys ‘R’ Us, a place you really wouldn’t think to go for games, has a pretty sweet “three for the price of two deal” to help a bit.
You can buy any two games and get the third game for no cost at TRU. This seems to exclude pre-orders. I don’t know if your two purchased games can be pre-orders and the third cannot, or if none can be pre-orders at all. Out of the three games, obviously, your most inexpensive game will be the free one, so buying three $60 Xbox 360 titles would save you the most cash.
There’s a lot to choose from between Splinter Cell Double Agent, Phantasy Star Universe, and Destroy All Humans! 2 on the original Xbox; to name only a few. Who’s taking advantage of this, and with what games?
(Note: This seems to be an American-only offer.)

Hmmm. Anyone want to donate $120 so I can test this out
i dont even have enough extra cash for one game right now, much less 2 games. besides, i havent even beaten condemned or ghost recon yet, i’ve had those since august. i am on a very tight time schedule with not much of that for gaming. sad, i know.
Damn Americans getting everything! What a great deal. Shame TRU in the UK haven’t got anuthing like that, yet.
Gotta agree. Those in the US think they are being overcharged at $60 a game when over here it’s £50 ($90) and then they get offers that make it even cheaper. Screw region locking, they need to do away with it so the consumer can get the best value they can.
hey guess what…EVERYONE is being overcharged
Excludes pre-orders? HA!
If you want a game that isn’t out yet, buy 2 games you do want, and get 1 you don’t want for free. When the game you want is released, take back the one you got for free and exchange it, claiming it was a gift or whatever. Then you get the game that wasn’t out at the time for free
That’s my work-around for beating the “excludes pre-orders” system.
I did this a few years ago, and it worked like a dream. Just make sure you aren’t an idiot and don’t open the one you don’t want. And if they give you any grief, just remember: THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
…you sir, are a genius.
Following up on what pmp said, you could go buy 2 60 dollar games, get the 3rd one for free. Return them all to wal mart or something.(Say you bought them, but now your system is broke. You need the money to repair it.) Use the store credit, or go elsewhere to reserve 3 games you want!
True. Good call. Damn, I guess I’m not actually the smartest man alive.
Does wal-mart take returns without receipts?
Does Wal-Mart do cross Atlantic deliveries and returns?
Otherwise known as stealing? Isn’t this illegal? I guess not since you technically did “buy all three” but what’s the grey area of this for anyone who knows legal stuffs?
Man, I’m glad I posted this so I can hear what you guys have to say. I may end up getting THP8, Sonic, and PSU out of this deal
How long does this offer last? I didn’t see mention of it on the site. I figure if this offer is around until 11-12-06, I’ll be taking FULL advantage of it.
Joystiq says it goes ’till Saturday.
There is also the marketplace points deal I mentioned last week at Best Buy. It is still going. Buy a game and get a 1600 points card for 4.99.
There is also a buy 2 get 1 free USED games/dvds deal at EBGames and Gamestop.
A good week for games if you have some spare cash around.
Phantasy Star, Marvel, and LEGO. Can’t wait.
PSU, Splinter Cell DA, and then either COD2 or GRAW.
Does anyone know if the disc scratch caused by accidentally tipping over the 360 while playing is reparable? (Long story, but I get a little excited while I play.
My post got cut off. >>
If the disc scratches aren’t reparable, I need to either replace it or replace them with non-damaged copies from Blockbuster video… they rip people off, anyways.
