Six million Xbox 360s throughout the world

It’s not even a year since launch and Microsoft has gotten over six million Xbox 360s to people from all over the world. And with this, comes a big hike in the percentage of profits for Microsoft.

6 of the 6 million Xbox 360s

According to Next Gen Biz, the operating incomes and revenue for the period of July to September 2006 went up 11% compared to the July to September period of last year. That’s pretty good, isn’t it? Well, it gets better.

The Entertainment and Devices department’s revenue has increased by 70% in the period July to September 2006 compared to the July to September period of last year. The revenue for that period last year was $606 million to $1.03 billion revenue for that period this year. That department also recorder an operating loss of $96 million this year. While this may sound like a lot to lose, it’s not that much really when compared to last year’s loss of $173 million.

One final interesting statistic to be found in that article is that the number of users who are currently using the Xbox Live service currently stands at 4 million. So you don’t have to work it out, that means that 2 out of every 3 Xbox 360 users are connected to Xbox Live.

Quite a bold quote there buddy. If you have a machine that can tell the future then I guess you can buy them all.

My prediction: The PS3s large price tag will turn the consumers away and it will take a 3nd or 3rd place this year.

(O and that is a prediction…I wasn’t stating that for a fact)

I must agree.. the overprice phony machine will take 2nd or 3rd place..Its obvious..It will be impossible for phony to make up the year of loss to microsoft..

I six million really that much? I never knew how much any other console sold in its first year, so if someone could inform me? I do know that console sales grow exponentially if the console is produced for all five years of the generation, so this would at the least give Microsoft 36 million units sold by 2011, right?

It’s the fastest selling console EVAH!

I don’t have the balls to bet against the Sony install base. I really think it will catch up, probably in about 2 1/2 years :\

“Xbox Live service currently stands at 4 million. So you don’t have to work it out, that means that 2 out of every 3 Xbox 360 users are connected to Xbox Live.”

Aren’t some of those Xbox 1, not necissarily 360 users?

and don’t forget those on their 4th 5th or 6th consoles after the dread ring of death.

except they’ll still have the same gamertag, which is what they’re tracking here.

Seems like every year that goes by consumers are willing to pay more for quality gaming systems. I think PS3 is pushing it but who knows …

I think Sony will still win this time simply because of the blind loyalty of their base. Sony could go to each fanboy’s home and rape their sisters and mothers, and the fans would still buy the next Playstation.

Its a shame they predicted 10million by year end… do you think they will sell over half what they sold in one year… in 2 months.
LOL

didn’t you post exactly the same thing on an unrelated matter?? ¬_¬

This is awesome news! Good job M$!!. hopefully this growth should continue for some years and next year the Entertainment department should turn a profit.

I think those are Bad news for MS people becasue in last year forecast they expected to sell 4.5 million to 5.5 by june of this year, 6 millions by November not sound good to me

I’m not worried. Forecasts and predictions are just that.
