Gears of War launch day events announced
What will you be doing on Emergence Day? Before this, you probably weren’t sure, were you? Well, just over two weeks before Emergence Day, we now have details of what Microsoft have in store for you on November 12th.
A 24-Hour Leader board Tournament. The tournament winner receives a one of a kind “Gears of War” branded guitar as well as an automatic bye to the finals of a Global “Gears of War” Tournament planned for 2007.
Hourly sweepstakes drawings and prize giveaways including the chance to win one of several Samsung HT-P29 Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound SystemsAn exclusive free “Gears of War” Gamer pic and theme only available on Emergence Day
Game with Fame sessions with legendary heavy metal band and “Gears of War” fans Megadeth, the game’s lead designer Cliff Bleszinski and other members of the Epic Games team
Never before seen videos including a special Emergence Day transmission from Cliff Bleszinski
An MTV “Gears of War: The Road to Launch” Sneak Preview
There’s quite a few things to be doing then, eh? The tournament could be a bit of fun and the guitar would be a nice addition to anyone’s collection, whether they play guitar or not. And I wouldn’t mind winning one of those surround sound systems myself.

There will be a special international event as well. Missing out on the 12th kinda sucks, but it had been mentioned somewhere that there will be an international tournament or something once its been released everywhere. It was clear that they have not forgotten about everyone on this one. Well except Germany with their lame laws about video game violence.
With as much as GoW has been in the news on a regular basis, I am sure you will hear about it again soon.
emergence day should be a national holiday … who’s with me?
i think there is way too much hype and generall marketing around Gears. to be honest my exitment towards the game has been killed a bit by all the marketing bollocks. dont get me wrong iv booked an entire week off to play the game and have had it preorderd for months but i feel like iv already played it i know so much about it. people need to just chill out and let the game speak for itself!
p.s people get far too exited about “first post” its a bit lame that it makes you so happy. theres a world out there ya know!

MentalMaelstrom I generally felt the same as you about all the hype until I got my hands on the game at the Match Made in Hell in Hollywood this week. This freakin’ game deserves 10x more hype its way better than I thought it was going to be, and I thought it was going to be absolutely fantastic.

it would be funny if the game sux!…and everyone would just get hyped for nothing and all the marketing stuff would be a waste….but of course the game is gonna kickass!….right?….
