Just Cause 2 in the works?

While nothing has been confirmed yet, Swedish gaming magazine Kong is claiming something pretty interesting in an interview with the Just Cause developers. They are claiming that Avalanche Studios, the developers of the multi-platform action game, have said that a sequel to Just Cause is on the way.

Gaming site Worthplaying.com cites an article in Swedish gaming magazine Kong, in which Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios (also from Sweden) apparently cops to a sequel’s development. Worthplaying says Avalanche CEO Christofer Sundberg reveals that his studio is already working on a sequel and that the game will abandon the Far Cry-esque island paradise for a “VERY large city environment” (caps in original).

Rico shooting his way into a sequel to Just Cause

While Just Cause wasn’t a roaring success in Northern America, those in the United Kingdom seemed to be quite keen on the game. It was reported that Just Cause stayed in the UK top 10 on all platforms for four weeks after release. This is pretty good, considering the game was available on Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, and PC.

In that article, it is mentioned that if this rumour turns out to be true, then Just Cause 2 will be multi-platform as is Just Cause. Also, as you would expect, it would be mainly focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

As of this moment, a representative from the publisher of Just Cause, Eidos Interactive, have refused to comment, while Avalanche Studios have had nothing to say at all. We’ll keep you up to date with this story and update it if any new information becomes available.

i’m in the UK, i played the demo and thought it was pure shit.

Maybe it stayed in the top 10 becasue in Europe there was only like 10 games out for the 360, compared to many more in the US. Just a thought.

euhm.. think you need to look at another shop

LOL last i checked most of the us games are avialable in the EU … try a different shop lol

wtf, only 10 games on 360 in europe?
well, i liked JC on PC, but i don’t think it’s very good on consoles…

Just Cause
Do we have good idea? check
Is our character bad ass enough? check
Is the envioroment unusual(original enough) for this type of game? check
How long and much will it take us to make this game than?
A: Well about two months for playable version and it will cost $1mil for production,
B: about $10mil for perfect game and 3 years for production?

Eidos: Go with option A we will make the same amount of money anyway.

+++You make a great point+++

do we use the A button for everything? check

does shooting people feel totally cheap? check

is the game glitchy to f..k? check

does the game cost a whole £50? check

does this game in comparison with game of the year GRAW (and other 360 exclusives like RP TT, DOA4, etc - proper games) feel kiddy, cheap and nasty? GOD CHECK CHECK CHECK….

+ and obviosuly there are more than 10 games out.. but most are old and when this crap title came out there market was dead in the UK.. No new decent games shipping, and people wanna play… so people buy!… that was my point… and for you americans, maybe somebody could explain sarcasim.

But my final point is …

How long and much will it take us to make this game than?

A: Well about two months for playable version and it will cost $1mil for production,

B: about $10mil for perfect game and 3 years for production?

Eidos: Go with option A we will make the same amount of money anyway.

MP is dead on for this one. Just Cause looked awesome in theory and IGN loved it during their preview, but their review? They hated it, big let down and all. One of the worst things a game can be is a let down, better a quiet launch and complete crap than a huge launch and an ok game.

I can’t believe what people have been saying about this game; either it’s too open-ended for them to handle or they have absolutely no imagination… OR BOTH?

Try going off on your own, go to the opposite end of the island and explore, assault a few government military bases, liberate a few villages, maybe even a dozen large towns, and get chased by government soldiers all the way. I mean, it’s a giant sandbox game, people! You’re not supposed to just play the main quest; you’re supposed to explore and do whatever you want. Do that, and it lasts upwards of 50-60 hours.

Ja, I thought it was pretty good. Maybe I just didn’t get a glitchy version of it, but damn! The 360 version, I thought, was pretty fun.
