Zune suffers major blow in the UK
If you were excited about Christmas this year because the Zune would be out by then, expect some major dissapointment if you live in the UK. It has been delayed until 2007 at the earliest, with MVC claiming Christmas 2007, or even worse, somewhere in 2008.
This is a huge blow to anyone who was anticipating getting one. Presumably this applies to the whole of Europe, who will probably now look elsewhere for a portable media player. The cause of such a huge delay?
“They [Microsoft] will be working on rolling out the Zune in the UK and Europe with its compatible Zune Market place,” said Dene Schonknecht, media and entertainment alliance manager at Microsoft. “We haven’t yet selected a music store provider to build marketplace in the UK, which means we’re way off launch.”

Won’t be seeing these anytime soon in Europe
Another reason cited in the same article suggests that MS didn’t have anyone to head up a UK and European launch. So they clearly never planned on releasing it over here before Christmas 2006, otherwise this would have been a major priority. It’s a huge shame, because I, like many others I’m sure, were looking forward to getting the Zune by Christmas, not Christmas of next year.
Don’t worry though you lucky Americans, the Zune is still scheduled for the 17th of November for your listening pleasure. To read more on the Zune, see our article here.

Europe is screwed over and over again. Do these companies think we are backward?
First post - Yeah!
No Zune - Boo!
Fuck.
PWN3d
Lets just hope the Zune doesnt get plagued with the same issues as the 360. >:(
well.. so we (UK? and EU ) are lucky that we gone have some thousends betatesters in the US for the second batch
Again, it specifically says UK rather than Europe, so I have to do that! I know you don’t like it, you’ve mentioned it before, but I can only follow what it says. Plus, half of the UK (England at least) don’t consider themselves in Europe!
but its only here i read these typo’s rossko
its not because there is a little see between belgium and UK that its not part of EU
If you read the article, theey flick from UK to Europe to UK again.
And that sea is what makes a lot of the English feel not part of Europe. We want to be our own continent! If we ever have to use the €, there will be uproar!
LOL waaa you have to order it from an online us retailer boohoo … theirs work aorund always…. except for the ps3 where they will sue ya for doing that lol
by the thime the Zune comes out over here there should be a 2nd generation of this product
if not, well apple will preveil
Import is your friend….
Importing is all well and good, but I’m sure they would have thought of that and so the Marketplace of the Zune world will be region locked, preventing you from downloading music onto it. I’m speculating of course, but I can’t believe importing will work. I’d love to be wrong though!
i believe it to.. but i am sure its gone be with the same live passport as on your xbox.. so the account will work..
damn, crap, shit and fuck
well put
you forgot cunt
yea im glad it comes out in america comes it comes here.
i was getting one becauese i need a news mp3-splayer, but i hope they’ll release in in jan/feb, or otherwise i might get something from philips
UK will never get the Zune. The product launch will be so bad and demoralizing in North America that it’ll get pulled or drastically overhaulded before you see it there.
Cesar of ZuneInsider just disavowed those timelines, saying the Microsoft rep’s quotes were out of context.
He doesn’t say what the U.K. timelines will be, but there’s hope it will be a lot sooner than the “late 2007″ that’s being bandied about.
