PES 6 vs FIFA 07 comes to a head
Despite the on-going debate currently raging in the forums as to which game is better, the general concensus, according to the charts at least, is that PES 6 is the champion, finally overtaking FIFA for the first time in, well, ever.
After less than one week of the games being released, there is a clear winner, for week one at least. PES outsold Dead Rising “with ease”, though FIFA “easily” held on to 2nd place. And before you all go screaming blind that I’m being overly biased and missing the obvious fact, I am aware that Dead Rising was released on only one platform, not the three that PES was, hence PES easily beating Dead Rising. Nonetheless, it shows just how many it has sold.
The PS2 version of PES actually sold fewer than expected, however this was made up in 360 sales. Clearly people have converted from PS2 to 360, thus the slight decline in PS2 sales. Presumably the Xbox would be the same.
This is in spite of the fact that both versions are cut-down when compared to their counterparts on the “last gen” platforms. (For those that don’t know: PES doesn’t include a proper Edit Mode, and you cannot save replays, despite the manual saying you can. Stadiums have also been sliced.) Either people don’t read Xboxic, or were just too excited about getting their hands on next-gen PES/FIFA (a real FIFA game too, not the world cup bollocks that was released last year).
So (Glovner), what do you make of this? A good reflection in terms of the better game, or a disgrace: FIFA should be on top?! Whatever your views, keep them coming in the forum and in the comments below!

PES is to slow to be any fun for anyone that isn’t over 80. And if you are over 80 you won’t enjoy it as you arthiritic fingers won’t be able to smash the 6 different button presses required to kick the ball in the general vicinity of the goal.

At the end of the day I used to prefer PES, wasn’t sure with this release so I bought and played both.
FIFA IMO was the better of the two so PES went back to the shop.
So while I am enjoying my football experience online, you can all enjoy your one player realistic football.
I’ve always preferred FIFAS, but I’ve just got PES for the PC so I’m gonna give it a go. I’m put off by The_Glover saying PES is slow, pace is essential in football games IMO.
I just posted on the forum about the same thing. Yes PES is slower than FIFA. Yes it’s also more intricate. Does that mean FIFA’s better? Not necessarily…
I agree that FIFA is easier to pick up (I want to say “more arcadey” but you’ll take that as an insult), but PES is so much more like playing actual football.

FIFA is great … if you’ve only played FIFA and haven’t spent enough time getting to know PES. Once you do, you can’t possibly go back to EA’s crappernaut. While FIFA has the licenses and flashy looks, PES has the depth to go the distance. Its pace may be slower (more realistic), but the player response in FIFA - the thing that really matters - is unforgivably poor.
Real football fans who know the game play PES. End of story.

just played PES on the pc shit graphics even maxed up, screen tearing a plenty. plays alright, but not great by a long chalk.
It all comes down to a matter of taste. Do you like the fast paced, almost arcady, feel of FIFA (wich I certainly enjoy) or do you like the slower, and with it more realistic, feel of PES (wich I enjoy, from time to time). Thank God that these two games are different. What would it be like if you’d have exactly the same football games. That would suck, wouldn’t it?

I got PES 6 before FIFA07, infact i got FIFA07 2 days ago. PES 6 offers much more than FIFA in terms of gameplay, the only thing i like about FIFA is full licensing, thats it. When PES5 was out i played FIFA06 just because PES5 was way too slow!

hey glovner You say you enjoy Fifa more than PES. Aren’t you annoyed by the jaggy movement of the player? a ship turns faster than a player does on Fifa. Also the passes are soooooooo slow you can take a walk drink some coffe and the ball won’t have reached it’s target yet. The animations are stupid and the faces of the players(while they are tying to do a great job) look like freaks. PES has much more recognisable figures. Also what’s up with the goal nets? if you score a goal the ball gets stuck on the net and there little to no net movement? Have you noticed PES when you score a goal? If the shot is strong the ball will bounce off the net and come back out which is ABSOLUTELY REALISTIC AND OH SO SATYSFYING. THE only thing FIFA has better than PES is the stadium and ball graphics. I agree that this is a sliced version of PES lacking replay saves(very negative) and edit mode but still PES leaves you with a burning sensation everytime you play it with a friend. It’s not a coincidence that 80% of the world prefers PES than FIFA, and also that footbal is called FOOTBALL and not soccer. 80% of the world’s population call it football because you play the BALL with your FOOT, and you only see Americans call it soccer because they already call AMERICAN FOOTBALL a sport which is mainly played with their hands. Americans are the only ones calling football “soccer” and claiming that FIFA is better than PES. You wanted facts..
