PES online “being looked at” [Update]

If you’ve been PESed off (bad pun) with the handling of the online part of Pro Evolution Soccer 6, such as the difficulty in joining matches, then don’t panic. Konami have stated they are looking at the problem, and have issued guidelines in which to follow for the time being.

Statement from Konami:

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH in Europe is aware of problems with the online elements of its Pro Evolution Soccer 6 titles. Konami apologise for any problems that some people might experiencing at times, and can reassure fans of the series that we are currently investigating the situation in order to present solutions as quickly as possible.

No two player online action here…

Take that as “a patch is in the works”. Also, posted over at the forums on Xbox.com (which is currently down at the time of writing, so unfortunately cannot link to it), many, many people had rung up Konami helplines to find out what the problem was.

[Update] The forums are back, and here is the thread. All they offered was to make sure that your NAT settings are set to “Open”, and that should help. Not great advice I know, and if that doesn’t help, then you will have to be patient, or try FIFA instead.

Thanks to Bulldog Bish for the submission.

Two football releases on the same day and they’re both incredibly buggy. Hurrah for “next-gen” gaming.

RIP PES.

Yeah. Although they both have their merits, in terms of “next gen-ness”, they are pretty poor, especially compared to last gen offerings. Patching is the future, that’s plain to see

As i’ve said in the forums i took my copy back of PES as the online part was/is a disaster, hopefully i’ll have a reason to go and buy the game again soon as it’s still got great gameplay.

hope they fix the button lag, thats the main issue for me. It’s only a split second but it doesn’t half make a difference to the gameplay!

there was the same problem with PES5 but with a decent freinds list you could get games easy… but now the ‘true skill’ ranking doesnt allow friends to compete for rank (stoping boosters) but making your fellow PES friends redundent for anything more that an ‘exhibition’ match.

i’ve played a couple of online matches with PES… and not found 2 many problems… the things that do piss me off are how little konami have payed to 360 intergration.

your notifications come up and cause bad ass slow down.. and it comes up over the pitch map, meaining your blind everytime you get a message or friends list activity!… thats poor (for 360 exlusive next gen) - who are they kidding..

and the ‘new’ controls for the 360 are not better .. there worse… basically changing the primary and secondary shoulder buttons to the PS config… i like using the triggers more than the bumpers!

I’m really pissed at PES6… but it still has the real football feel.. which is paramount!….

What about s ’save replay’ function. I guess in the next gen it’s extremely difficult to save some data to a HDD

lol…. extended replays are great.. but if you can’t save there is no point!

Heh, the one time PES could have just destroyed the FIFA franchise, and they screw it up.

I still have my 2006 World Cup, and that is all the soccer I need for now. God, who knew things would get so screwed up in less than a year?

the best way to join online matches is to select custom match. You should get a list of available matches.join one,if u dont get in refresh the page and join again. Also if ur friend sets up a room then look for his name in the custom match list.

The best way to get good games is to join an online PES Community site!
