Gears of War achievement with Daily Show reference
One of our favorite skits from The Daily Show is the one where Jon Stewart mocks senator Ted Stevens’ explanation of the internets. According to the senator the internet is “…not something you just dump something on. It’s not a big truck. It’s, it’s a series of tubes…”, when trying to explain the Net Neutrality act. Apparently we weren’t the only one that enjoyed the skit because the achievement you get in Gears of War for hosting and completing 50 ranked matches is called … ‘A Series of Tubes’. Headover to our Wiki for the rest of the Gears of War achievements, most of the 48 achievements have witty names and Epic did a pretty good job at setting up the achievement in such a way that you have to explore each and every mode in the game to get all of them.
Gears of War is released on the 7th of November in North America, if you’re in Europe you’ll be able to pick Gears up on the 17th. Hexus received word from an anonymous representative from the British store HMV that if you buy the Gears bundle you can get it this week but apparently the game isn’t sold separately until the 17th. This news hasn’t been confirmed but be sure to notify us if you managed to get Gears early.

november 11? why are you spreading such damaging information? is it because you euros have to wait? but come on. gear comes out tomorrow in the u.s. the 7th of november. it is confirmed. the game has gone gold. it has been shipped. why would you tell people they have to wait a week?

bugs don’t wait. emergence day is tomorrow. and no offence, but people kinda depend on this site for information like this, so yeah, being off by a week, one day before the most anticipated game of the year comes out, is damaging.
but again, no offence. the only reason i mention it is because you guys usually get your facts straight. but since this news only applies to american scumbags like me, i will certainly be satisfied simply saying “thanks for changing it!”

and as far as the official email to managers at ebgames goes, there is no official street date, and gears can be sold as soon as it is received.

I can see why you’re upset and I’ll change the date in the post but please realize that the initial date for Emergence Day was the 12th and that the actual North American store dates are something that we usually don’t hear about since we’re not in the US. I’m sorry we screwed up on the date, I’ll see to it that it won’t happen again but keep in mind that we’re not all in the US
Edit: this was the first press release stating that it would be released on the 12th btw, I’m not just making stuff up
Actually, if I recall correctly the 7th is the official SHIPPING DATE, so stores will begin seeing their stock next day and the official launch date is still the 12th by which every store should have it. At which point individual shops start selling is up to them in this case.
What I don’t get is why you fanboys make such a big fuzz out of it. XBOXIC reported correctly according to every press release known to man (and locust). Just because it has to ship a few days earlier and shops are actually allowed to start selling as soon as they receive their shipment doesn’t mean xboxic got their facts wrong.
If you go by where stuff is available first you ‘d have to report piracy releases instead of official dates or street dates or dreamdates or whatever you fanboys wanna go by to suit your needs.

Dude, chill out. Emergence day is the 12th of November, when ALL stores will have it in the US. Most stores will begin selling before then, but not all. Who sh*t on your toast this morning?

i am just trying to look out for my fellow gamers, who, as a result of misinformation, might wait an extra WEEK to play gears that they wouldn’t have to. i am not lookin for props, and i am not lookin to house ic. i am just lookin out. if you could have played gears last week, and didn’t, because of something you read here, that would have sucked right? the fact is, the game will be in stores tomorrow night or wednesday at the latest. this has pretty much been confirmed. nobody cares when they originally announced the release date to be, people want to know when the game will be on the shelves. i was just pointing out a GLARING error.

Well I called my local gaming store “Game Express” and they told me to come in tomrrow to get the game. Many “Mom and Pop” stores get the games early and because they are not big name stores…they can sell the games when they please. So the game will START popping up as of tomorrow, hell people could even get it today.
I’M getting it tomorrow, all I’m saying is that the official “Emergence Day” is on the 12th. And Gamerscoreblog.com is comprised of Xbox employee’s.
