Gears of War in stores today
The ever lucky Americans can run to their local gamestore now and pick up their long awaited copy of Gears of War. Our friends over at the Gamerscore blog report that the first stores already started selling the game and starting today every retailer in the US is allowed to sell you Gears of War. Apparently OXM gave Gears a perfect 10, joining the ranks of such titles as Fight Night: Round 3, so you might want to give this game a try.
Next week, on Emergence Day (when it’s widely available), Nov. 12, we’ll have a full slate of activities scheduled on Xbox Live, including a 24-hour leader board tournament, hourly sweepstakes drawings, Game with Fame sessions with “Gears of War” fans Megadeth and members of the Epic development team, and more. GOW is available now at some retailers and available widely by Nov. 12, 2006 in the U.S. for MSRP of $59.99 or $69.99 for a special Limited Collector’s Edition, which will include a collectible embossed metal box, the “Destroyed Beauty” hard-bound art book, and a bonus DVD that features the making of “Gears of War,” the “Art of Gears of War” trailer, and the MTV program “Gears of War: The Race to E3.”
Our very own Peroxwhysm00 claims that he already got his greedy hands on his copy, feel free to discuss your findings with this years most anticipated 360 title in our forums when you managed to pick up yours. Emergence Day is still slated for November 12th, keep an eye on all the events happening on that day. bullshit, search online and you can get a copy of Gears in The Netherlands for 55 Euro’s.
A friend of mine even managed to get the collectors edition @ Zuiderpark-computers.nl for 58 EUro. I think they made a mistake I am curious if he will really get it though

Not all of America is getting it today. I’m in Florida in Palm BEACH not only and the fags here said they arent getting it til Wednesday morning. No midnight release no, tuesday release period.

Hmm I don’t know what to buy THP8, GOW, or COD3. I’ve never been a fan of third person shooters so I really am leaning towards THP8 or COD3.
bill,cod3 looks absolutely incredible man. the multiplayer is finally going to be next- gen with 24 player online battlefields and multipassenger vehicles (motorcycles with sidecars!). that being said, if i had a choice it would be gears all the way. don’t get me wrong, i love tony hawk, but i have had so much tony hawk over the years, i think that one can definitely wait till a game drought.
so, bill, i gotta urge you to get gears (if you can find it) but if not i think cod3 is going to be stunning both on and offline this time around.

gears comes out tomorrow here sorry to the europeans that are upset but Microsoft is an american company things are localized and shipped faster for the home country of the system, just look at Playstation for years would get some games a year in advance in Japan but I still feel your pain.
gamespot just gave Gears of War a 9.6 score.They say that all the aspects;multiplayer,singleplayer,co-op etc are all executed to perfection.In short its a perfect representation of the genre.
yeah, Tony Hawk is going to be great too, but I am gonna hold off until next week to get that. Maybe even longer, depending how well GOW and COD3 hold be over. IGN also rated high for GOW at 9.4.

every store i’ve gone to today in massachusetts has told me that preorders get it tomorrow and everyone else if any are left over get it the 9th. i keep calling walmarts and they haven’t gotten to their shipments yet so i’m calling back in 2 hours.
I so can’t wait to play this. The Gamestop I preordered it from says they won’t have it until tomorrow. I’m going to swing by there a little after UPS gets there and hopefully they’ll have it.
Gamestop and EB isnt always the way to go. Im going to pick mine up at my local Mom and Pop VG store at 4, thats when it gets dropped off.
Well this is BS. It’s not out in Arizona. I went to Target, Walmart, EB Games, and Game Crazy on my lunch hour. No GoW, COD3, or THP8. Tomorrow or Thursday is when they will be in stock to buy. Gamefly.com shows them being in stock on Thursday.
Looks like Gamefly.com just got their shipment in of games. GoW was first on my list and I didn’t get that shipped to me but they did ship me COD3. So I should be playing that in a few days.
Just don’t go to Best Buy, according to two CSR’s, they don’t get videogames until Thursdays. Huh?

This game is amazing. I picked it up 6 hours ago, and haven’t been able to put it down. Good thing there is 3 people working at my work today, and nobody is comming in, leaving me with time to play Gears
Saw the regular and collectors editions on the shelf at Fry’s Electronics today. Didn’t buy it though. Crazy I know.
Gamestop and EB stores on the west coast won’t get GOW until tomorrow (Thursday the 9th) due to a shipping error. They are offering reservation customers a $5.00 in-store credit for the delay (nice, since it isn’t their fault) so I guess I can get GOW and reserve Halo 3 tomorrow…
This is without a doubt the best shooter ever 10+ ! The graphics and sound will blow your mind !
