Paramount show their Marketplace offering

Every other post at the moment seems to be about the new video content coming to the Marketplace on the 22nd of November, and this one is no different. Paramount yesterday put up a trailer of what you can expect they will be offering.

The 14MB video gives you a short look at things that were really already expected, such as Jackass and MI:III, amongst other things that I won’t spoil for you! And, according to the Major, you can expect a different video every day this week, all showing content of what will be available come launch day.

It’s a great time to be American (well, in the video game world), because they will be getting this sooner than everybody else. But fear not, it will be coming to other continents soon (hopefully).

I wonder when this’ll come to Europe

Comment by freduk on 2006-11-10 10:04:07 | Reply

We might never see this in europe, it’s not microsoft not giving it to us but it’s europe lack of technology, i got so many example, like hdtv we so late we run on 50Hz US-JAPAN on 60Hz. we are old cities in europe I mean in technology. If we get it we won’t get the same programs as the US, look at windows mediacenter. Anyway i’m out.

What are you talking about 50Hz, HDTV’s run at 60-100Hz depending on resolution. I don’t think any run at 50Hz anymore.

Mine does but then its older than the magna carta.
Though it is still new enough to also have 60hz.
I think he was trying to say that we tend to always be a ways behind on Tech. I’ve come to the conclusion that its a good job we don’t live on a 3rd world continent like Africa cos then we would be typing these comments on goats hooked up to the mains.

Europe probably has to wait for like a year or 7 knowing ms -_- I’m really sad that this all is only for US and that they are making such a hype about it everywhere :’( It’s Just not fair :’( :’(

I heard on one of the few podcasts I regularly listen to that they are remastering the original series of Star Trek in high def. Thats pretty sexy news for trekies and fans of the show.

Judging by the way the movie trailers are distributed on marketplace, you can bet Europe gets the raw end of the deal again.
We get the odd movie trailer every now and again but the American has quite a few more.

Europe?? getting the sticky end??? Surely not. Its not as though all 3 of the console companies have screwed us royal in the last year…oh yeah they did.
But then Publishers have got us Europeans backs right?! oh yeah that would be the OTHER Europe then hey? ¬_¬

Well I guess it will work with a US account even if you live elsewhere, right?

I have a feeling it wont.
They will prob put region encoding on it (remember that Japanese football demo).
Seeing as US gets programmes way earlier than us, I’m sure they will find a way to stop non US machines viewing them. The publishers would demand it.

Yeah WMV/XMV?? format has embedded DRM allowing for quite specific access control for the file. Thats partly why they use WMV/XMV and not AVI/DivX/Xvid cause you can’t do it with those.
