The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

Play 360 games with your cornflakes

It’s a real Xbox 360 bonanza event this month for US residents. First they get Gears early, then they get the Video Marketplace early, then they have the Burger King games, and now they have Kelloggs giving away some 80 million items, all related to 360. And yes, that also includes games.

Kellogg will put mini handheld Xbox games in boxes of Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, Corn Pops and Cocoa Rice Krispies.

Mini handheld Xbox games?! How does that work?! Basically they are just very small handheld things with a game built-in, and just branded as Xbox gear, as the picture below depicts. Don’t be expecting Achievements here, because they all only have five levels. All except one, which has three. So not that exciting then.

OK, so nothing spectacular so far. Some cereal brands also carry a special deal with Gamefly.com, a renting company. If you produce 2 UPCs, you will get a 30 day free trial of the service. Bear in mind that normally it costs at least $15 a month without this.

Meanwhile, Pop-Tarts, Eggo waffles, and Kellogg fruit snacks carry offers for Xbox knit hats, T-shirts, back sacks and instant-win goodies. Ads and P-O-P support the tie-in.

Mmm, a nice knitted Xbox hat. Wouldn’t that look good on the way to work. A back sack might be quite handy, though could you bear to be seen wearing one?

I may jest a little, but it is nice to see such a huge promotion. With 80 million packets containing goodies, it’s clear Kelloggs are desperately trying to get more sales out of Christmas. And with the PS3 and Wii looming, this is just a token gesture from Microsoft to remind you all of where the best place to game is. As with these type of things, I doubt the rest of the world will ever see this.

Have you got any pictures of some of the geard that you received from the promotion? If so, let us know in the comments section or create a new post in the forums!

we had this promotion in Canada last summer. I got the one in the center and the bottom-left one. Both are really crappy lcd games… at least the frosted flakes were tasty.

Yeah, I remember seeing these about a month or two ago. But pretty pointless for anyone over the age of 8.
